Title: "Regional strips 04: Seborga's boss, Liguria"
Author: J.J.
Warning: I might have failed in portraying correctly the regions involved. If that's the case just tell me. Those were done out of love for the Italian regions, not with the intent to offend someone.
Notes: After drawing the characterization for the Italian regions I ended up having ideas for them and drawing LOT of strips about them so... here there's one. It's nowhere near to the APH standards but well, I'm not Himaruya-san...
Characters: Seborga (?), Liguria (Giovan Battista Vargas)
Time: Modern time.
Disclaimer: "Axis Powers Hetalia" belongs to Himaruya Hidekaz.
Hey, do I own something here? Oh yes, I own the plot and a sensible heart which would surely break if you give me harsh reviews... so please be honest but nice ok? Oh and the representation of the Italian regions are mine as well

What inspired this
Seborga is nothing else but a tiny part of Liguria so I assumed it was natural for him to consider Liguria his boss... and since when I created Liguria I was heavily inspired by the Italian stereotype for Ligurian people... Liguria became sort of a scary, hard to please, boss. However When visiting Liguria though I was impressed by how nice all the Ligurians I met were. From here (and part of Liguria's history) came the idea that Liguria is also a hard worker who likes to please his customers.
The 'Luigino' is Seborga's local coin... though it has some value only in Seborga, which is why Liguria don't want him to use it to pay him.
For who's wondering why Liguria's 'weapon of choice' is a stone this is due to Giovan Battista Perasso (nicknamed Balilla), a Genoese boy who started the revolt of 1746 against the Habsburg forces that occupied Genoa in the War of the Austrian Succession by throwing a stone on an Austrian official. The uproar caused the Austrian garrison to be evicted from the city. This fact is also mentioned in the Italian hymn.
Liguria's proverb of the day
A salûte sensa dinœ a l'è unn-a mêza malattia.
La salute senza soldi è una mezza malattia.
Health without money is a half disease.
Bruno Lauzi - Ma Se Ghe Pensu
A Ligurian song talking about how a Genovese forced to leave his city misses it and wants to return to his own city.
There's also a version sung by Mina, who's an awesome singer, but I thought Bruno Lauzi would do a better work at singing it in Genovese.
