For who's interested to know...

Liguria has a wonderful public aquarium in Genoa (the second largest in Europe). Kids can spend the night there to observe sharks.

For obvious reasons he's dressed up as a Marine official.

Liguria holds the most important Italian music festival in his city of San Remo, also knows as the città dei fiori (city of the flowers). San Remo also hs a casino and is rumored to have given life to the five-card stud variant telesina.

Liguria, once Republic of Genoa had a strong rivalry with the republic of Pisa (Tuscany) first and with the Republic of Venice (Veneto) after.

Of course there's a lot more to say about Liguria... but I didn't have that much space... ^_-

As far as I'm involved, although Liguria, as a region, had birth in 1947, as a Hetalia character he has been living for a much longer time and therefore he's much more older. Back in the past he was the Republic of Genoa...

If you ask me his human name is Giovan Battista (like Giovan Battista Perasso or Giambattista, better known as Balilla ) while his pet wild board is called Peppino (diminutive for Giuseppe... like Giuseppe Garibaldi and Giuseppe Mazzini) while his pet shark is called Cristoforo (like Cristoforo Colombo). By the way, his main city, Genova, is a girl named Andrea... (like Andrea Doria... though Andrea Doria was a man... ^_-)
