And now Him & Her has a romantic proposal from Steve to Becky.
I'm just on a roll, here.
Well, this wasn't a will/won't they ship, The entire premise of the show is that Steve and Becky are a made-for-each-other mess of a couple that want nothing more than to laze around, have sex, watch trash TV, and eat... and do nothing else. But the main obstacle is everyone else bugging them --- like her bitchy sister, Laura, with her messed up fiancee and their assorted cohorts and his upstairs neighbor Dan, I guess (though there's a certain affection and sympathy Steve and Becky and the viewer all have for Dan, so we tolerate his weirdness).
Anyway, this was an adorabel episode. This whole (horribly short) season has been about Steve wanting to propose to Becky. Her evil sister and father hate him, but he loves her too much to care and wants to laze with her forever. So the proposal happened. And it was horrible and sloppy and heartwarming and pretty much everything I love about this show.
As hard is it can be to watch this show, there's a realness and sweetness to this lazy pair that I really respond to. I like the slice-of-life episodes even when they make me cringe.
Also, I loved when Shelly finally stood up to Laura! As much as I was annoyed that Dan took Steve's carefully hoarded champagne, I thought it was fitting. Shelly deserves a toast for telling her off after all the abuse and Dan understood that!
I know there will be problems as Becky's sister and father irrationally hate Steve, but Becky doesn't care. Neother do I. I hope these awful, lazy kids finally get some peace!
Also Steve's silly T-shirt... awwwww! I just love you, Russel Tovey (even with how mad I am at you for quitting Beign Human). You're just the cutest!
