Sanghyuk was sitting on his canopy bed, more bored than ever. It had been almost three years since he had been banished to live in this tower, alone in the middle of the forest. Of course, a maid came by a few times a week to bring him food, but apart from that it was a very grim way to spend your flourishing late teens.

Sanghyuk sighed and got off the bed, making his way to his dressing table. His reflection looked back at him with a slight frown on its face, making him sigh deeply.

“This sucks. Just because of some stupid prophecy my grandfather made…” he mumbled to himself, kicking a little at the stool standing next to him. With a huff he sat down, bringing one of the fanned out pieces of colored cloth up over his head. Sanghyuk blinked against the material, making it fly away from his face with an underwhelmed puff of air. He put down his diadem (he was still a little sore about the fact that he got the diadem; just because his older sister was a tomboy and had claimed his prince’s crown, he was stuck with this glittery thing) and started to fold the cloth, a helpless attempt at getting rid of his boredom by occupying his hands.

Oh~ My prince, when will you come to save me~

Without noticing, Sanghyuk started to sing the song his sister always used to sing when they were playing, the words falling from his lips in sweet harmony. He hummed the rest of the melody while his hands worked with the material, forgetting his boredom for a little while. Once finished, he looked at the result with satisfaction, seeing as handy craft was usually more on the downside of his talents.

Just as he tied the knot around his forehead, tucking some of the strands of his hair into place, he heard a loud cry from outside the tower.

Intrigued, seeing as usually this was a rather deserted place, he made his way to the big window across the room to attempt a look down onto the ground. What he saw almost made him forget every bit of boredom he had felt that day.

Down on the grass that surrounded the tower, just a few feet away from the deep, slightly magical forest that was laid out by his grandfather, Sanghyuk saw a young man, maybe a few years older than him, stumbling over to lean against the tower, breath cut short. Sanghyuk noticed that the man’s left leg was bloodied, probably from a rather unlucky encounter with one of the many bewitched creatures hiding from the sunlight under the trees. The young prince was curious, though. No one had ever come even close to the tower in the past three years, Sanghyuk only ever heard from the maids a few times a week about corpses that were summing up in the first few yards of the forest. This one must be tough, he thought.

Still looking down in mild curiosity, Sanghyuk let his eyes wander over the armor the man was wearing, before his eyes landed back on the wound that was ingloriously edged into the other’s thigh. He nibbled on his lip, before deciding that maybe speaking up was just the best idea.

“I have some medicine up here, I could throw it down for you if you’d like.”

Sanghyuk saw the figure of the man jump in surprise, looking around slowly at the voice that seemingly, for him, came out of nowhere. The young prince rolled his eyes, a chuckle slipping past his lips.

“I’m up here. In the tower.”

The man looked up, albeit a little skeptically, until his eyes met the image of Sanghyuk leaning out of his window a few feet over the ground, waving at him. The man didn’t say a word, only kept staring, and Sanghyuk started to feel rather uncomfortable under the gaze. He cleared his throat curtly.

“Uhm… so do you want the medicine?”

The man glanced at the forest once anxiously before his eyes moved back to Sanghyuk, contemplating the situation. Sanghyuk would have laughed if he wasn’t slowly getting impatient.

“The creatures don’t come near the tower during the day. You’re safe… for now.” He said, while looking at the horizon, where the sun was already very slowly making its way down. The man followed his lead, watching the sun shine above the mountains in the distance, before meeting Sanghyuk’s eyes again, nodding as answer.

“Wait a second.”

Sanghyuk went back into his room, rummaging through the shelves to find his first aid kit, before he stopped in his tracks and went back to the window. He scratched the back of his head in thought as he was eyeing the man down below, not sure if his next proposition was actually really a good one.

“Uhm…” he started, getting the attention of the other, now feeling slightly embarrassed about all of this, “I just thought instead of me throwing the stuff down… why don’t you just come up? I mean, it’s going to get dark in a few hours, and before you have the trouble of walking a few more miles through this forest to find another settlement…” he trailed off, not really daring to look at the armored man.

He waited, but there was only silence, and Sanghyuk sighed. Guess that’s a no, he thought, turning on his heels to go back to finding the medicine.

“How will you bring me up there?” A voice piped up from behind him. It was unexpectedly smooth and soft, and Sanghyuk had to think for a second before he realized who the voice belonged to. He whirled back around with a small smile now plastered on his face.

“Don’t worry - that’s the easy part.” He grinned.
