We played a small festival called Woodstock in Woodstock in (you guessed it, here's a cookie) Woodstock, Ga this past weekend. Talk about a memorable experience. It was held on my friend Elias' farm and lasted over 14 hours. We got there at noon and when we left at around midnight there were still two bands left. We were tuckered out and had an hour and a half drive home so we had to cut. But it was awesome. We went on at the perfect time, around 6pm, which was lucky.
We covered a Jimi song ("Fire, on which I played the solo. :D ) Wailing on a Hendrix solo on a hot summer day (on a white Fender Strat, nonetheless) almost exactly 40 years after Jimi did something very similar was a life affirming experience as a guitarist. We played to a pretty nice size crowd and managed to avoid dying of heat exhaustion. It was close though.
We had an absolute unadulterated blast, mostly. Its kind of sad that it will likely be one of our last shows as Dragonfly, at least for awhile, but it was a good one nonetheless. Lots of people seemed really distressed that we're taking a break for what may be a good long while, which was cool because it meant that we meant something to these people but of course it was also sad. Hopefully this is not the end of Dragonfly. I feel like we have something wonderful and I don't want to completely lose it, though i think that a break will do us good.
Here's a quick shot from the show. :) This is about when we were beginning to feel the effects of dehydration.
ALSO:
I bought a pair of Ray Ban New Wayfarers (Finally!). No more cheap, ill fitting knockoffs for me anymore. I'M SO EXCITED. OMG OMG.They've scarcely left my face for the last three days, and when they do, I spend a good three minutes caressing them with the provided Ray Ban logo'd polish cloth before nestling them in the genuine leather case and saying "until we meet again" as I close to snap button secured flap. They like a bluish, gunmetal metallic sort of color with mirror lenses (apparently a limited edition..?). Of course I couldn't have just bought the black ones. I made a facebook album devoted to them. As such, I've got pictures. :D
and some shameless self portraiture:
I don't think I've ever enjoyed looking like a tool more in my life.
In any case, those things are my cool, man. I've never completely understood people who think that sunglasses are just for shielding your eyes from the sun. I think your choice of sunglasses make a definitive statement to the world about you. As such, these are like part of my wardrobe now rather than just something I wear to keep the glare down when I drive, though they're really good at that too.
Balls, I need to go to class.
Until next time!
