Before I bitch too much about my day, I should remind myself that MY BAND IS PLAYING THE FUCKING MASQUERADE IN LIKE 2 WEEKS!!!
That's right, December 22nd. If you wanna come, let me know! I'll have tickets to sell tomorrow or so.
Ok on with the rest of the entry...
Today it seems like all of my frustration with school and finals just kind of came to a head.
I had a final today...yeah, sunday...that went not nearly as well as I hoped it would. I'll probably end up fine in the class in all honesty, but I'm still upset by it. I just spent most of the beginning of the week studying for it, and then told myself I'd be fine so I started to focus on another of my courses which proved to be worth the time, as I think I'm going to absolutely slaughter the exam tomorrow.
Still, I'm mad, and sick of not having time for what really makes me happy. It seems like that's the trend of every semester since I've been here. My time just gets eaten up by work, and time for my Dad, Liz, the band (and my bros by association), and time just to myself goes completely out the window. I make time, but it just makes everything else that much more of a crunch. It makes me very happy that eventually my work will only occupy possibly eight hours of my day instead of my whole day. I'll have time for those things I love, and not just work.
I've been thinking for awhile now about things available to me outside of being an accountant once I graduate, but so far nothing that would actually work. Some of my ideas include:
-Automotive Journalist
-Technician at a tuner shop
-Professional Guitarist
-Private entertainer for Jenna Jameson
Ok, that last one may be a joke, but it's about as feasible as the rest of them, I guess. I like finance, I find it interesting, but how amazing would it be to have a job that's actually a total blast?
In all seriousness, there's a local tuner shop that a lot of the WRX faithful use for their performance parts and tuning, and they recently had to build a show car for the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association Convention in California. SEMA, as it's called, is huge, and one of the biggest chances for speed shops like this place to show off what they're capable of producing. In any case, they had to build the car practically from scratch in one week, since customer cars had kept them too busy to that point. Most of the staff was awake until 4 or 5am with the car every night wrenching on it, installing parts, and tuning it. It just looked like such a blast, since the car was a total work of art, and they had at their disposal some of the worlds best performance parts. I mean, working on a ridiculously quick, beautiful car for 8 hours a day...maybe even 16 sometimes? I know it sounds so dorky, but I can't think of a cooler way to spend your day at work. The long hours might get old eventually, but still. Even a run of the mill schmoo like me's ride would be fun. Making some kid happier because his daily driver is louder/faster/handles the way he wants? Bliss. Because I know, it's an awesome feeling.
It makes me want to go over there and ask for a job. "I'll kitty-litter the shop floor at closing time, I don't care!"
Yeah, sure, that'll work. Toootally. Better stick to working with money.
Fuck, where'd the time go? I need to take a shower and go back to work. SIgh. Almost there.
