So wear me like a locket around your throat

I decided to join the choir at Ferris next year.  I miss singing so much, and it looks like it'll work with my schedule.  Ferris doesn't have any actual music programs (like, you can't major in music there) but they have some recreational choirs and bands and stuff.  The only one I could find information for online was the concert band, which is SATB and open to everyone, including the public.  I'm a little worried because of that, and because there's no audition required to join, but I'm thinking it'll be fun anyways.  And if it isn't, well, I'll just stop going.  It's not like it's a class that I'm taking for credit anyways.  I'm pretty excited though.  It'll be nice to have something other than class and studying to do during the week!

Nothing too terribly exciting has been going on lately.  I had a pretty fun weekend last weekend though.  Saturday Annie and Nate came down to Kalamazoo and we hung out at Jen and Frankie's house on the lake all day.  That was a blast!  We went tubing for like, three and a half hours and then we went back in and played this really fun game for quite a while.  I think it was called Loaded Questions, or something similar -- everyone takes turns asking these open-ended questions from different categories and then everyone has to answer them, and then the person has to guess which answer belongs to which person.  We definitely had quite a bit of fun with it, haha!  After that we cooked dinner and then once it got dark we had a bonfire and just sat around talking.  Definitely a good day.  I miss my friends so much now that we're all spread out over the state for the summer.  The only bad thing about that night was that the mosquitos were out en force and even though I doused myself with Off, I'm still covered in mosquito bites.  Like, seriously, my legs look like I have chicken pox.  It's gross.

Then the next day, Sunday, I met Beth and Angela in Saugatuck for a beach day and picnic.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day - warm but not too warm, with a nice cool breeze, and hardly no clouds.  The beach was really nice too -- it wasn't too crowded and the sand was surprisingly clean.  The water was pretty cold, but it ended up feeling really nice after laying out in the sun for a while.  I even fell asleep at one point, haha.

We didn't really do anything exciting for the 4th of July.  I had to work until 8 on Friday and then I drove home to Lansing aftewards.  As soon as I got home we drove out to the mall to watch the Delta Township fireworks.  Saturday we just hung out at home and then went to see Transformers 2 that night.  I really liked the movie, it was really cool!  Then after the movie we drove downtown Lansing to watch the fireworks, which were pretty awesome.  Then today I mostly just hung out with my mom.  We went shopping this afternoon to find me some new and more comfortable shoes to wear to work and then we went to get groceries.  So, a pretty laid back weekend.  It was nice though.

This week I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Wednesday is Abby's birthday, so I think I'll take her out to dinner while she's here in Kalamazoo on Tuesday, and then we're having the official celebration this weekend.
