This never occurred to me, but nanotechnology may be unsafe. A woman doing studies using the most common nanoparticle currently used found it messed up DNA and gave rats cancer and things. Some people are calling for more studies to be done and for it to not be used on food and other things humans ingest or come in contact with until the safety is verified. Right now, though, there isn't any regulation in regards to the dangers. Only a small part of the money set aside by the government for studying nanotechnology is due to be used to study the safety.

I think nanotech has a lot of promise. Like many, I think the stuff it can do is awesome. But the world of nanotech is new, and some of the evidence points to certain aspects of it being more dangerous than good.
