sometimes
there are things you want to scream aloud
but whisper rather,
so as not to assalt unguarded ears.

if you were psychic, you would think of me and instantly know how spoiled and honored and humbled and happy i am.

i got treated to a fancy dinner at mie n yu in georgetown a couple of weeks ago, courtesy of adam's mom, who gifted him with some $$ for us to "have fun with".

we ate in the "moroccan bazaar" room. (i wish i would have gotten a better pic, but i was trying to not look like the person unaccuostomed to such fine restaurants that i am.)

despite less than favorable reviews in a variety of places online, the meal and service were great. dinner started with a martini for each of us; i had the "effen cherry pom" (effen black cherry vodka and pomegranate juice), and he had the "mala de oro" (apple vodka and apple brandy).

this was taken just before he had one of those debonair 007 moments with the martini. the one of me at dinner across the table came out a little to blurry to appreciate, but i'm fine with that :P

(i love the mingling of warm and cool tones in this picture.)
our taste buds were teased with the arrival of a complimentary chef's tasting of ...lamb tataki (i think it was) and a selection of breads for us to choose from with 3 dishes of accompaniments for them; wasabi, whipped butter, and vinegar & oil. which breads adam had escapes me, but i had the pumpkin bread and the 12 grain bread with pine nuts. when i jokingly asked, "which of these should i put on the 12 grain bread? wasabi?", he misheard me, and thought i said "breast", instead of "bread". that was probably because he had been staring at how low cut the front of my dress was all evening. (i have no problem with that, since he's the one person whose allowed, sometimes encouraged, to stare.) "yes, would you like some wasabi on my breast?"

*cough*

we skipped the appetizers and headed straight for the main course; honey orange glazed duck breast, seared, served with ginger soba noodles, baby bok choy, stir fried veggies, and orange hoisin broth for me, and barbecue lamb shank, braised, with lavender cardamom sauce, mint couscous, and a side of wasabi mashed potatoes for him.

for dessert, we shared four homemade white chocolate truffles, which where rich and divine. i choose to pair mine with chiarlo nivole "moscato d'asti" (a dessert wine) and adam closed his meal with some french press coffee.

overall, though the meal was expensive, it was very good and we would like to go back someday.
what would be really cool [and *really* expensive] would be having dinner with a group of close friends in the bird cage.

.:love and luck, my lovelies:.
