My step-son, my ex’s son, became a father yesterday. He’ll be 18 next weekend, his girlfriend will be 17. And while it saddens me to some extent, the baby is still beautiful and would be my late son’s niece so I’m going with it (and very relieved I’m a grandma via my step-son and not my daughter! Ha!)

I don't normally ask for this sort of thing, but I am today. My oldest's boyfriend's father died Saturday night in a car accident. He was only 43. He was pronounced dead at the scene. My birthday was earlier this month (the big 39!), and my license plate renewal came up mid-month for October. So, I decided to splurge and get a vanity plate.
