Well friends!
It's been nigh on two weeks since I last wrote you! Much has changed, and what a sordid state of affairs we find ourselves in. After the Revolution of the Machines it was difficult for me to find a laptop that would cooperate with me. But I have returned to you, through peril and flame, and I bring with me tidings of the trivial bullshit that fills my days.
I've seen Kill Bill, vol. 2 three times since it hit theaters. It is one of the sexiest pieces of film I've ever had.
pt. 1) It was, as a movie, excellent.
pt. 2) Kill Bill, vol.1 & 2 are best viewed and thought of as one complete work. This was the director's original intent, and each film is more [meaningful/moving/magnificent] when seen in the context of the larger work.
pt. 3) Both films, but especially Vol. 2, are at times more art than they are movies. Clarification: Each film is an entertaining movie, and it accomplishes what all good movies accomplish. What Tarantino did is like video art, but less pretentious and more awesome. Nothing in the movies is coincidence, least of all David Carradine (star of 70's series Kung Fu). Everything included in the films is deliberate. I can't pretend to know even a fraction of the pop-culture-commentaries Tarantino added, and the movies still blew my fucking head off.
I should be leaving Syracuse around May 5th. A few days after I'm home, I'll be leaving for Dayton, Ohio. From there, it's on to Kentucky, where I'll work on a horse farm for three weeks.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I just got unbelievably tired. This will have to do.
Good night, Moon.
