Otakon freaking kicked ass!!!!!!
I had more fun than I've had in a long time. As I've told several people, probably the best aspect of it was being surrounded by thousands of fellow delightfully crazy otaku. It was amazing to see all the different costumes and different variations on the same costumes. Everyone I met was so friendly(some in more ways than one), and the atmosphere was literally intoxicating.
The programming did leave a little to be desired however. That being said, I've fallen in love with Midori Days and in deep, dark X-rated love with Elfen Lied. The AMV contest had several above average videos, and the Saturday night fan parodies were fantastic. SARS War left me in completely unexpected fits of laughter, and Dark Water instilled in me a need to see many more Japanese films.
Of course I was also looking forward to perusing the dealer's room, and I wasn't disappointed. It was absolutely overwhelming. Even though I spent nearly three hours in there, I'm not even sure I got around to every table. There was so much to see! Anyway, here's a list of what I picked up in that wonderful place.
Roy Mustang and Miroku key chains
Roy Mustang, Edward Elric, Inuyasha, and Otakon 2005 pins.
Fullmetal Alchemist wrist watch
Reversible(black on one side, red on the other)shirt/jacket
Otakon 2005 t-shirt
Chobits Volume 2, two Princess Nine volumes <-----all three for $20!!!!
Outside of the convention, I lost my heart to the Inner Harbor. Since I've come home, I've literally yearned to be back in Baltimore at least four times each day. You know, in all seriousness, I'm considering moving there at some point. Next year, I'm definitely doing the paddle boats! ^_^
Thanks to the five people I shared a hotel room with three days for letting me share a great experience with you. ^_^
A question to you as well. Could you offer me some names of your favorite J-rock, J-pop bands? Not that I don't love L'Arc en ciel, but I'm interested to hear some new stuff too.
After coming home, my interest in anime has indeed blossomed into an obsession. Especially when it comes to Roy Mustang. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....SPLOOGE!! Had to be done.
On an entirely different note....

Kick ass!!
Also, my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of New Orleans and those living in and around other areas which are expected to be hit by the monster of a hurricane known as Katrina.
