I arrived in Seattle at the 8th and spent some time with my family for awhile, saying my 'hi's and shit. That night I showed up at Barnes & Noble to visit Vince and was lucky enough to catch him as he was heading out, so we went to Koharu and had a big bowl of sashimi and gobbled up our raw fish and washed it down with Kurosawa sake. Then we headed down to Auburn at the Performence Grill and got oursleves a pitcher of ESB and watched people and yours truly make asses out of ourselves at karoke. Got shitfaced and crashed at Vince's place.
I woke up with a bad hangover that gave me a painful yet welcoming feeling of nostalgia. I pretty much spent all day sitting around at my mom's place, then later that night I sat around at my dad's place then my dad, stepmom, and I went to the lounge at Salty's and had a few drinks and talking about random things. I went home and fell asleep watching Tron.
Then next day I hung around my mom's place until later that night in which I went over to Eric's place and participated at his party. Plenty of beer, grass, and guitar hero going on. We watched his band play like a more tweaked out Tenacious D. Shortly after I fell asleep.
I woke up and headed to my mom's to spend time with them being that I was leaving the next day. We had an early thanksgiving dinner that was quite delicious. I had to go to sleep early for the ride tomorrow. I said my goodbyes prior to this because I was waking up at 5am to leave.
Still tired as shit I woke up and got my things together and left Seattle, but not before I picked up some coffee first. I drove down to Portland in some nasty rain and slippery roads as a kickoff. Once I got to Portland I proceed to get lost looking for a place to buy a car charger for my iPod. Maria mapquested me out from work. I headed east on I-84 across the northern border of Oregon through some beautiful sights like The Dalles and the Columbia River. When I reached Pendleton I thought to myself that I should probably get tire chains, but I kept going towards what I thought was more hilly grassland. I was so wrong. That's the downside of a road map...no elevation. So the road began to rise and swerve around massive dome-shaped hills up into a forest dusted with snow. Luckily none was on the road so I was relived. I stopped at La Grande to get chains just in case. I continued through Oregon which started to look creepy for some reason. I saw what looked like a futuristic gray fortress nestled between two mountains. As I got closer I saw that it was a cement factory, which was kinda cool lookin'. I crossed the boreder into Idaho and as it got dark I lost all sight of whats around me, just a portion of road ahead of me. After hours of curves and turns I made it to Utah which was full of towns and lights. I stopped at a motel in Ogden which was 30 miles north of SLC. I fell asleep watching Indenpendence Day on HBO.
I woke up to see that snow is falling everywhere. I also got my first real look at Utah and I was surprised in how beautiful it is. I continued through Salt Lake, past Provo, into the mountains. Now I'm going up and up and up and into a snowstorm in the treachrous roads in and above the rockies. I nearly lost control up there and started fishtailing, but I recovered and kept going. After reaching an alititude of roughly 9000ft it started going downhill into this small mining town where I stopped for breakfast. As I went further ther mountains turned into plains, so that should be the end of snow for me. I made it to Moab which is this pretty badass little tourist town with microbreweries and the famous Arches National Park. An hour later I made it to US-491 which was formerly US-666. Probably the ugliest road ever. Went through the shitties part of Colarado going 65 through small towns, not because I was speeding, the speed limit was 65 and the road went through these small towns with schools and shit. Made it finally to New Mexico. Past Farmington into Navajo country which was pretty, but desolate. Made it to Gallup to where I make my last turn onto the road that leads to ABQ and 2 hours later I made it. After I got home I collapsed and slept like a baby.
Next trip...someone is going with me.
