daniel pinkwater is the BEST. omg i totally forgot about him... and umberto eco too i totally forgot about... i think i've read less books than you though. an you know whats also good is the martian chronicles.
Hmm, I think I may have a read a bit more of that list that you. (Sheesh, do you remember forcing Sophie's World on me at like 11?)
It's a bit lacking though - Lots of genere fantasy, but very short of the SF. One Heinlein, one Clarke, one Zelalzny, no Asimov, nevermind more contemporary stuff.
You haven't read Hyperion or Gabriel Garcia Marquez? Go. Read. 100 years. NOW, Jan, NOW!!!!
And then you can pick up Hyperion. Then you can read other books again.
