My copy of Driving Smash: Side King arrived yesterday. I can't say I understand most of it, but it's very fun to watch (and play... even if I don't really know what I'm doing).
The voice clips are good quality, which I was a bit surprised at (perhaps I'm still used to GBA-quality sound). The interactions between the team members are nice, and the interactions with the team members are nice, too. Some random rambling, thusfar (from what I can understand):
- My team is Yukimura, Sanada, Kirihara, and Hiyoshi, which lends for some nice interaction. Sanada having to listen to Yukimura (because he's Yukimura, of course), their interaction in general, motherly!Yukimura, and Kirihara and Hiyoshi interactions are always appreciated. Ah, and then there's other members of the team turning up... that was also nice to see.
- They mostly like getting their heads patted. They don't seem to like it if you poke them.
- Despite this, I think Sanada gets annoyed if you pat him whilst he's exercising...
- Yukimura's moves are good (teninu~). They seem unreturnable so far...? It's just unfortunate if he happens to be playing Kabaji, who... copies them. Eh.
- Yagyuu's hair is the correct colour. They all have their fitting (in my opinion) personalities. Thank goodness.
- Sanada talks to himself if he's in trouble in a match. In a sort of 'pull yourself together, Genichirou!' way. Hmm.
- Two of Niou's special effects? 'Puri'. 'Piyo'. One of Sanada's? 'Tarundoru!'
- It's interesting to hear Kirihara say that he's going to overthrow the Sannin Bakemono with such vigour when he's standing right next to one of them (I put him and Sanada in doubles at one point...).
- Niou has Laser Beam. Excellent.
And there were some preorder bonuses, which I wasn't expecting at all. I was very happy to get those. I got some White Spur bromides (Yukimura, Inui and Kaidoh, and Kirihara's 'special' card were the ones I liked the most), a Hyotei bag, and what looks like a mobile phone strap and a card thing (both with Atobe on it). I might not be overly fond of Atobe (or use my mobile phone), but I'm just glad I got preorder bonuses. I reiterate, I was very happy.
I should probably work on trying to get past the last round of the Junior Cup now...
Ah, and Hotel Dusk (which I spent a while looking for) also arrived. Being a fan of text-based adventures (Phoenix Wright, et al), I'm enjoying it. Good, good.
