Well, I suppose after hyping up an event like Jessy coming to town it's only fair that there is a follow-up.
Friday she arrived about 8pm, we talked with my parents for about 20-30 minutes, then picked up sarah and katie and went out to the strip. There we met up with friend Adam, and visited JR's and woody's and the round up (surprising, because none of the girls really likes/enjoys country music). Along the way they got to meet several of the people I've been spending time with. We ended up going to the grapevine for last call, and really enjoyed the night.
By the time Jessy and I got back to my house, it was nearing 4am (it was a long trip back, we had to stop several times for someone to throw up...). The next morning we awoke around 10am to breakfast by dad, then we got ready and went to an early showing of The Dark Knight, which we all enjoyed. The movie was longer than I'd expected, and by the time we got home it was nearing 4pm. We had a little down time, which we used to cat nap change and get dinner set up. Ruby Tuesdays at 5, then after dinner we went to Meg's and Chris's and met baby Terran. We helped unpack a little (they were just moving in that day, which is why they didn't come with us to other stuff). Baby Terran wanted to claw my eyes out... but I suppose that's only natural with something so pretty ;)
We got back in the car nearing 9 and managed to get everyone set to go out again. To the grapevine first, then after to the roundup. By this point, I was rather tired from lack of sleep and the anticipation from the few days before. It was enjoyable, but a part of me wanted to curl up under a pool table and sleep. We went to Spunch (a cross between supper and brunch) at denny's and were back in bed to see the sun rise.
At 10am the next morning, we had coffee at starbucks with Meg, then we had coffee with Drew at 11am at another starbucks. At noon we had chinese, and by that point.. it was time for Jessy to leave.
Overall, it was a great time to see and revisit old times with Jessy (and make new drinking memories). In some ways, though, it was bittersweet. The rush from trying to pack so much in left me physically and emotionally drained. She still is that best friend, and the connection remains... but when we lived near to one another it was easier to pace ourselves and not spend 18 hours a day on the run.
I have been toying with the idea of moving to Wichita to be closer to her. If it were really up to me, I probably would. Although there are great friends in this area, I don't think any can compare to the relationship i have with Jessy. I can't afford it though, as there isn't a secure job there and I certainly don't have money to finance a long stay unemployed.
This week I've been a bit of a homebody. By that, I mean I really haven't even bothered to shave since Jessy left. After the past two weekends of running, I think I'm just tired. I'm really not used to being that social. When I get tired, I tend to clam up and get quieter than usual. (I know, me getting quieter? who'd have thought...). Really though, I do seem to shut down if I don't have enough sleep. And until it's socially acceptable for me to grab a nearby guy and take a nap on his (possibly unwilling) shoulder, I don't think I should be out of the house without proper emotional preparation.
I think it might be time for some sleep tonight, I hope you're all doing well.... sleep well my sweets.
