Sleep...what's that? Oh yeah, it's that thing that I don't get much of anymore.
Things have been wicked busy for me lately, and I'm realizing that I need to slow down some before I crash to the floor from exhaustion. Typical weeks for me lately have consisted of working 40 hours, doing writing and pre-production with the band on average of 10-12 hours a week, playing shows (straight from work, thus creating really long days and a worn out voice,) working on merch, coordinating the whole recording with Duane down in Kentucky, hanging out with friends, meeting new people, attempting to watch the couple shows I enjoy each week, and occasionally sleeping. All in all, I believe my average night of sleep for the month of April was about 4 to 4.5 hours.
But, I can't complain, after all, it is my choice. I'm doing a job I enjoy, efficiently writing the best parts in songs that I've ever written, and meeting one great person after another. If things continue to fall together the way they have been so far, all of the sacrifice will be worth it. The next three months will be the initial judge on how things are working out.
Now I'm off to bed to try for around 5.5 hours of sleep tonight!
Tomorrow's agenda: Work early, then perhaps actually spend some time laying on my couch? I shall see...
