Bakura probably would not have approved of this, if he had known about it.
It was the restless heat of the summer nights that led Marluxia out to the carnival once more. Avoiding the bumper cars from last year, with the memory of Sasuke, the joyless little ninja, he headed to the Ferris wheel, perching atop one of the carriages, clambering to the top as it creaked its way up to the apex.

Aaaaaaaaaaand guess who was on the basket just before Marly's?

Hearing the creaking of a second occupant just behind and below her own compartment, Rubi cracked open one eye and raised her head from where she had both eyes closed and her head tilted back into the worn seat cushion to better appreciate the soft breeze. Surprise surprise. Of course it had to be just her bestest frienemy in the world.
"...You're going to snap your neck one of these days, princess." Wry as ever. Yup. That's Rubi.

He looked up, peering at the face from inside the cart.
"Perhaps one day, but not today."
Idly, as if it were a natural and not at all psychotic thing to do, he took the edge of her carriage into his hand and pushed it, rocking the cart on squealing hinges.

A slight curling of her lips was the only response to his offhanded statement. After such a long period spent away from her makeshift 'family' in Jig, even the Assassin's smartass comments were welcome. She'd missed their madcap rivalry something fierce.

"Famous last words." She drawled, adjusting her seated posture to compensate for the dizzying sway of the cage as it swung back and forth over empty air. She'd endured worse, clearly, so a few shenanigans with height issues wasn't much of a challenge. She even lifted one leg to rest the treads of her boot on the fingers he had curled over the railing, warningly. Viperous green eyes looked exceedingly bored under the fringe of her eyelashes while she cushioned her cheek against her fist.

Marluxia was patient. He could wait. She was clearly bored with his antics, so why strive to impress her further? He waited for the carriages to lift up until the roof was almost equal to her window before leaping up, using the bottom of the cutout as a stepping stone to the roof of her cab, where he stood gingerly on the edge, Scythe coming to hand to rend the fragile center of the roof to pieces.

Ah. So he was a bit anxious to get to the main event, was he? Somehow that knowledge didn't surprise her so much as increase her amusement a few points up the ladder. As tired as she was with her job nowadays, she found a stirring of the blood that had gone strangely missing over the last year. Being largely unable to feel an adrenaline rush might've had something to do with it due to repeated exposure.
Getting to her feet with her usual brand of seemingly perfect balance, Malone waited for the carriage to reach the highest point of it's swing before taking a short running spring over the handrail to snatch blindly at the next highest basket, dangling precariously by one hand for several seconds prior to pulling herself up.

Crouching on the roof, she smirked down at Marluxia, her forearms resting on her thighs.

Conveniently enough, Marluxia was already dressed enough like Batman to warrant his coat flapping in the air as he leaped off the top carriage to join her, aiming for the far corner of the carriage while whipping his scythe behind him, ready to slice at Rubi, or at least get her moving in another direction.

If he was Batman, she was Spiderman. And clearly Spiderman was the better superhero because he had actual superpowers. Batman just had fancy gadgets and therefore didn't count.
Nimbly evading the keen edge of the weapon skimming through the air at chest height with a sidestep, she backed away to the very edge of the canopy, apparently unwilling or unable to draw a weapon just yet in self-defense. Dodging was the name of the game, and with a hard kick, she leaped backwards with enough power to set the basket rocking wildly under the Nobody.

Falling, she pulled one of her newer weapons from her harness.

Falling, she fired. Just once.

A soft, brief wail of splitting air and a sudden gout of flame and shrapnel heralded the explosive crossbow quarrel's impact on the bottom of the carriage while she hit the roof of the cage below, having gauged the speed of it's descent.

But unlike Spiderman, who was a nerdy cameraman, Batman was like a ninja. Dropping off the carriage easily, he grabbed the window frame of the carriage, dropping out to catch a crossbeam instinctively at the sound of the crossbows discharge, ducking his head to shield his eyes from the shrapnel. With a dark smile highlighted by the lights on the sides of the spokes, he sent a torrent of shrapnel of his own towards the other assassin. A cloud of razor thin petals, red like dried blood.

She spat a colourful curse, having just enough time to roll sideways off the roof to swing one-handed into the cage itself, using what little shelter the thin overhead metal offered to protect herself from the deadly rain of flowers. Several managed to punch through, but only grazed her in passing rather than tearing her to shreds as originally intended.

Breathing a little harder now, she returned her crossbow to it's harness, opting for unarmed close combat mostly for the novelty. Either way, she was clearly set on the defensive for the time being.

Well, since they were only playing...
Seeing the invitation as it was, Marluxia casually tossed his scythe away without a second thought and stepped in, using the momentum of the carriage to slide down, body steeled for impact.

Noting the lack of pointy objects jutting from the cage ceiling, it was somewhat obvious to Rubi that the Assassin intended to get up close and personal with his opponent. That suited her just fine - going toe-to-toe with the flowery poof would be another way of amusing herself.

So, the moment she spotted a humanoid figure sliding down towards the side of the cage, she fired off a savage snapkick at Marluxia's unprotected torso in an attempt to knock him off his perch but good.

Gritting his teeth, he took the kick in his forearm, arm aching too much to grab the foot as it retreated. Keeping with his momentum, he leaned forward, bringing his elbow up to try to jab her in the torso, to make her lose he balance and fall.

A grim smile spread over her face at the satisfying impact that greeted her kick, but said smile faltered a bit after getting an elbow in the chest. Rubi's response was to immediately latch on to his collar with one hand while the other came up to rain vengeance down on his diaphragm in a flurry of short, brutal punches. With her holding him firmly in place by the shirt/cloak/dress/thing, chances were very good that she was looking to pop a few organs before letting him go.

With a growl, he leaned into her punches to dull the pain, jerking his forehead forward sharply, aiming to bash into her face with the thickest part of his skull.
