Mello was no artist by far, and the tacky tape up job on the bathroom door attested to that. But the freak behind the wooden barrier seemed to be subdued for the most part and that seemed good enough for the moment. In reality the thing, monster - whatever you wanted to label it - had startled him pretty good. Not that he'd admit it to anyone of course. Admitting it would be weakness and in a place like this...weakness probably wasn't the best thing to let on to.

What was perhaps more troubling than the creature in the bathroom was his own current state of existence. He'd been expecting to hear a boom, a large explosion and feel the heat and walls of the mafia headquarters collapse around him. But instead he'd woken up here, nearly choking on a candy which somehow had been pushed in his mouth. The murky black water which, to its merit was draining away slowly still had done a number on his Italian leather shoes ( ... )

They were both blondes with similar hairstyles.

That was actually the first thing that Aaron noticed about him. In response to the suddenness of Mello's appearance, he offered him a shy smile, offering the bag out towards him as he slid inside, sighing unconsciously in relief as the door closed once more.

"Yeah, that's me. And...you're Mello right?" he added, hoping he had gotten it right.

"There's...different kinds in there. Maybe a couple hot chocolate packets too. But I wouldn't necessarily add milk. Stuff like that goes bad here really fast when you can find it." he added, realizing he was dangerously close to babbling, and shutting up.

"Mmm...here."

Mello took the bag gratefully, much more than he usually would've toward a person. But desperate times called for desperate lapses in his usual front. After all, being polite never did anyone any harm. "Thanks. Really." He said, fishing out a chocolate bar from the bag, setting the rest aside on a small table.

"Yeah, I'm Mello."

Snap. The only sound for a moment as he peeled away the foil on the chocolate bar, sinking his teeth into the cocoa sweet. God that felt good. Letting the piece melt on his tongue, Mello took a good look at the younger boy, who admittedly wasn't much shorter than he was. They were both blond and blue eyed. Aaron almost even had the same haircut as he did.

"You like chocolate, huh?" Well, that was obvious enough. It seemed like a good enough conversation starter.

"It's no problem, really." he murmured, not shyly per se so much as...a little intimidated at the other. He watched him, pleased at how the other seemed to enjoy the chocolate. It really was good for a quick fix when you needed something. And since the boy had never even contemplated alcohol...

"Yeah. Pamela used to say I made the best hot chocolate ever...back home." His smile faltered a little, then picked up speed quick enough, hand rising to push his hair out of his face, only to have the strands fall right back over his eye the moment his hand dropped.

"Are there...a lot of dangerous things in your apartment? Some of them...are worse than others." he confided quietly, glancing about with an expectant eye.

But if Aaron was looking for something to pop out from under the soggy rug or poorly decorated walls for that matter he would be disappointed. Or rather, relieved. Another bite and snap and Mello was chewing on the chocolate again, raising an eyebrow at the younger boy. "Hot chocolate." When was the last time he'd had hot chocolate? "I haven't had that in awhile..."

The reminiscing was cut short however when his attention was directed back to their surroundings. "Aside from the freak in the bathroom, no. Haven't encountered much since." Not that Mello was sure that was the last of it. He'd probably have ghosts pouring in by the dozens soon enough. "Worse?"

He seemed satisfied with the lack of supernatural activity, offering Mello a friendly smile, brightening a little in pride at the turn in conversation.

"I could make you some sometime...if you want." he added, almost absently. Mello's apartment was similar to his...though it seemed to have taken on a tad more water.

"Bathroom leaking water...?" he shot a worried glance at the taped-up door before glancing to Mello once more.

"Yeah...I remember when this thing was in my apartment and I had to tape up my room...it kept shoving at the door and I was hiding behind a chair." he chuckled weakly, shrugging.

At least the kid was smiling again. Mello offered up a smirk of his own, amused at the pride he saw in Aaron's face. If it was that great to be proud over then he'd have to try it. "I'd like that." He nodded, taking another bite, casting a glance toward the bathroom.

"Water, hair and monsters it seems like." Mello's voice was dull when he spoke, eyes narrowing as he kept his focus toward the taped up door. The shrug however didn't go unnoticed and he found it a little sad. And while Mello hadn't reduced himself to hiding behind furniture, he didn't hold it against Aaron. The bitch from the sink was certainly not a pleasant sight.

"How did you get rid of it?" He inquired. Tired of standing Mello sauntered over to the small set of chairs and sofa, throwing himself onto one of them. "Or did it just go away eventually?"

"The hair monster...comes out of the drain sometimes..." he murmured after a moment, gazing towards the door before meeting Mello's eyes. One hand rested on his hip, assuming a bored sort of expression. It was a lie; unfortunately he wasn't anywhere near as cool as he tried to be.

"A lot of times, they fade on their own...but how long it takes...that seems to depend on them. It took the one in my room several days." he added, sliding back against the wall once more, glancing down at the floor.

"They never go away for too long, though."

Great. Now he'd never be able to take a piss in peace, more or less shower. Mello's face was already becoming noticeably distressed. "If that's the case, how am I supposed to take a shower?" Maybe he wasn't. Maybe that was the point. "Think stuffing the drain with tape would work?" He grumbled. If there was one thing Mello couldn't stand it was terrible hygiene.

There was no way his appearance would suffer just because a few ghosts decided it'd be fun to take over the bathroom from time to time. It was his now.

"Th-they aren't always there! And maybe you could use someone else's if it came down to it, you know? But...I don't think they're always there." His voice said that he could be wrong, but he wasn't betting on it, at least. It only made sense it wouldn't stay there, right?

"I'm sure it'll be alright! They have to haunt everyone...right?" Not that that made much more sense.

But it made enough sense for Mello to at least want to accept it. So he did. At least for now. He graced Aaron with a little nod to make him feel better, or that was the intention behind the action.

"As long as I can take a shower." He said, shoving the chocolate bar back in his mouth. He chewed on it, considering what to say next.

"You can sit, you know." A small wave toward one of the chairs. Aaron looked just too awkward standing there. He'd look much better sitting.

Aaron wasn't sure how easily he would take to a place like this being given the information he was in this manner.

"When...I first came here, there was a group of us. We all woke up in different apartments around the same time, and none of us could figure out how we had gotten here, you know?" Awkwardly at first, Aaron made his way to the couch, throwing himself down near the arm, turning to face Mello once more.

"I mean, we still don't really know much about this place, but we have more than we did at least, for newcomers." Because it didn't seem like the place would stop bringing people in anytime soon.

At least they knew more than they had when the first arrivals had appeared. It wasn't much, but it was something. At least that meant there was much left to figure out. "Has anyone bothered to figure out how we get here or where the original residents of this place ended up?" He paused, taking a lick of the chocolate.

"Unless the residents are the ones who are haunting us now."

It would make sense for the ghosts haunting them to be the original inhabitants of 'Jigoku'.
