Home-made seitan... omg!!

This stuff is crazy!! I think next time I may try tying it in cheesecloth, maybe trying a slightly different flour ratio, and using a bit less salty ingredients, but overall I'm amazed. It's so tasty! The texture is rather like chicken-nuggets, maybe a bit springier, but not dry and chewy-tough like tofurky; it's kinda "juicy", so when you fry it in a pan it browns and crisps on the outside and the texture is just like eating a juicy chicken nugget... and the flavor is quite chicken-y, but it's not *so* much like eating chicken that it grosses me out. Plus the recipe made a substantial ammount! I'm betting one could cut these into nugget shapes, bread them, and feed them to anyone and they wouldn't know it's not chicken. It's deffinately a better meat substitute than straight tofu, which doesn't taste or feel like eating meat at all (tofu is more like scrambled eggs, but without the egg flavor).

... heh... just don't feed them to anyone who's allergic to wheat gluten.

ETA: *rolls around*... sooo... stuffed... :P
