Amy awoke with a start, for a moment rather dazed as to where she was. Letting out a breath she hadn't realised she had been holding in, Amy looked down at Rory who was sleeping next to her. Pushing her hair away from her face, Amy sat there for a moment. She didn't want to wake him up, but she also knew it'd be impossible to get back to sleep now. Lifting the blanket from herself, she eased Rory's arm from around her and slipped out of bed.
It was early in the morning, the sun was starting to come up now. Making her way out of the bedroom and into the kitchen to start some coffee, Amy jumped at the sound of a door banging loudly. Looking upward she glared tiredly at the ceiling. Her neighbors were so loud. Just because Mr. Reynolds was leaving for work didn't mean he had to wake everyone else up. Though, to be fair, she was happy to just have a place to live. A company called Torchwood, had helped them out much more than they deserved.
It wasn't easy, adjusting to such a new lifestyle. Living in New York in the 1940s, 1942 more specifically. She had to be careful when talking to other people, and in all honesty, it was making it hard for her to make friends with others. It wasn't that she didn't like the neighbors, minus the Reynolds, but there was absolutely nothing she had in common with these people. She missed her old life, back in Leadworth, in the 2000s. She missed her family most of all and it's not as if she could just call them up, they weren't even alive yet. It was a good thing that Rory wasn't up yet, she needed a moment alone. Whilst the water for the coffee was boiling, Amy took a seat in one of the two chairs at the small round table. Placing her head in her hands, she let herself cry. Something she really hadn't been able to do until now.
