Hermione's little kiss on his ear brought him back to the present. "Yes. Millie and Daphne say that folk have been gossiping for years about how much alike to each other Draco's parents look, and whispering that Mr. Malfoy's father and Mrs. Malfoy's mother both had reputations for unfaithfulness. But we weren't raised like that, were we?" She

Kudos for Mrs. Frisby! I loved that book!
I did as well. And it seemed like something that would resonate with Harry and this version of Hermione.
Snape's description of what he thought James would have done to Lily doesn't seem to jibe with McGonagall's listing of things they weren't allowed to do. Or is it just that James would have come as close to the line as possible?
At the time I was thinking that Snape meant that James would have come as close to the line as possible, but it occurs to me that Snape might not actually know what the rules really are. I think that the circumstances in which a girl could fall into a status like Hermione's are so rare that it probably hasn't happened in a hundred years. McGonagall looked up the rules as soon as the register changed, but Snape might well have not even found out about Harry and Hermione until the staff meeting after the Welcoming Feast, or even the next morning.
I think that in the modern Wizarding world pretty much everyone else in relationships like Harry's and Hermione's are adults with a particular kink who chose to swear to each other that way in private and don't let on that they're anything other than simply married in front of other people, since the business with the leash is only a Hogwarts rule.
Love Luna's tie.
And really liked Harry's observation of how different Hermione is when she's not trying to do things to impress her ex-parents.
Thank you. I don't know how Luna tied it in five dimensions (knots can only exist in odd-numbered dimensions, from what I understand of physics), and I probably don't want to know, but she enjoys doing things like that. ;-)
And the idea of Hermione becoming more herself in a situation where it was only her opinions and Harry's that counted was probably one of the things that got me started with this fic.
(To be continued, cos LJ says my reply's too long.)
