Like the title says, I hate this cold I have.

I'd have hoped I was heading it off on Monday night when I took Airborne as soon as I could feel that little tickle in the back of my throat. Unfortunately, although I seem to be moving reasonably rapidly through the symptoms, I still have them.

In response to J.K. Rowling's recent comments about ( Read more... )

Somewhere along the way, Hermione has a few pointed words with the unicorns ...

Actually this is even closer to my little day-dream HP fantasy ficlet - a 'bunny' I guess it's called, although I'm not a writer - back in the day. This was really early on, when I was content with the default H/G pairing, and I wanted to read a story where the unicorns shunned Ginny, her peers shamed her (gossiping behind her back) and then Harry get into righteous mode and have a frank talk with the unicorns. Who, magically, get the point.

If unicorns only relate to the 'pure' then that dark stain on Ginny's soul - remember, Tom 'poured some of his soul into her' - would quite reasonably put them off. Harry's little speech would essentially ask them to look further and disambiguate between the remnant of Tom and the *real* Ginny Weasley who didn't deserve their shunning.

Mind you, these days I couldn't really care less about little Ginny, although she's cute enough in your work. :-)

Hmmm. Maybe the unicorns could somehow 'purify' Ginny, so she doesn't turn out to be the witch she was in the canon.

Actually, seriously, maybe Harry and Hermione (and long-time childhood friend Luna) could notice that Ginny is troubled/corrupted by Tom and the unicorns come to help out? Nah, I'm starting to stray from the tighter, more effective core of my day-dream ficlet.

Interesting. I don't think I've ever read that one. Any recollection of what the title was, or who the author might have been?

Sorry, no. But more and more I think I read something along the first part of my little 'bunny' - Harry looking out from the tower and seeing a dispirited Ginny trudge away from Hagrid's CoMC class on unicorns, then picking up on the girls' malicious gossip afterwards. I think the story then just had him catch up with her and talk; it didn't try and have him turn things around.

It might have been on the Sugar Quill fanfic archive site.
