Went to see Narnia on Friday. I have read all of the books, but it's been so long that I only vaguely knew what was going to happen, and couldn't nitpick. Which is almost good, I suppose, in that I wasn't caught up in "they didn't do that right," and instead just enjoyed a rather excellent movie. It's also been so long since I read the books that, when I first read them, I didn't get the Christian thing. It was only after I had read Lion that someone told me about it, and I could *kinda* see what they might be talking about. I had also not read enough of the Bible at the time to get many of the references. So of course, seeing the movie now, when I do understand most of it, it seems so very heavy-handedobvious. Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoyed the movie, and the books. I'm not the type to refuse to read it because it's Christian. Christian stories can be really good sometimes. Try reading the Bible sometime, just as a collection of stories. The writing's kinda dry, but it's generally entertaining.
I'd like to read the Narnia books again, but the only sets I can find at a reasonable price have those stupid "Now a Major Motion Picture" spots on them -- permanently! >.< Couldn't they just put some peel-off stickers on them? Did they have to ruin the covers??
