Rating: K+ at the most, I'd say
When: After everyone got that magazine
Where: Hiyoshi's apartment
Summary: Choutarou don't know what he's supposed to think about the picture he saw in the magazine, and goes to ask Hiyoshi for a second opinion. Something like that.
Hiyoshi sat down by the table after having unlocked the door for Choutarou. The other boy hadn’t showed up yet, but he might as well leave the door open. His friend knew how to let himself in, after all.
Flipping through the papers he had gotten from the Seven Lines about the live, he read through the timetable once more. There would be a lot of time reduced from his training as long as they were supposed to have coreography-practice.
For Choutarou, the day had been quite a mess. The whole magazine article about the party and then the fangirl comments about him and Shishido had just made his head all confused. There was only one person he wanted to see then, when others would just make him more confused for the day.
Choutarou knocked Hiyoshi’s door and opened it carefully, peeking in. Then he walked inside and closed the door to avoid seeing anyone familiar in the hallway. “Sorry... I didn’t know who else to come to.”
Hiyoshi turned on the chain to look at Choutarou. “It’s fine.” He knew he probably would go to Choutarou, if he ever needed someone to talk to. He picked up the papers and pushed them into a pile. He stood up and went over to his friend, directing him to the kitchen. “Sit.” he ordered, then asked “Do you want something to drink or anything to eat?” Because an upset Choutarou who sat just wringing his hands was an annoying Choutarou.
Choutarou did as he was told, because it felt like a good thing to do for now. “Well, I wouldn’t mind drinking some tea”, he said and looked at his hands that he rested on his lap. “If it’s not too much trouble”, he added. He knew very well that he shouldn’t be like this. Not with his friends. But right now he was too unsure of everything to care.
Hiyoshi looked Choutarou up and down for a short moment, then turned to one of his cupboards and picked out two big teacups. He himself didn’t drink an eccessive amount of tea, but since he was taking out one of the big cups for Choutarou, he might as well take out one more.
“It’s not.” he assured. He turned on the waterboiler - because maybe he shouldn’t do tea the real way this time around - and turned to look at Choutarou again. “Ootori, you get worried too easily.” he stated.
Choutarou looked up at Hiyoshi. “I’m not worried... I’m just... well... confused”, he said and sighed. “Okay, maybe a little worried, because I don’t know what Shishido-san thinks about the pictures on the magazine.” He probably should have went over to Shishido to see how he was doing. After all, Gakuto had been kissing Eiji and it seemed like Shishido was close with Gakuto... but somehow he didn’t want to see Shishido, which was odd. He always wanted to see his senpai.
“I don’t think you have to worry that much.” Hiyoshi turned to the water boiler as it signalled it was finished. Then he poured up the steaming water in the cups and placed them on the table. He picked out a box of different teabags and placed in front of Choutarou, taking one for himself. “Mukahi-san went around kissing a lot of people that night.” he stated, sitting down on the chair he had been sitting on before Choutarou came.
“But that’s bad, isn’t it? I mean, he’s cheating on Shishido-san...” Choutarou said and the blushed. “I-I mean, it’s not like it’s none of my business, but I don’t want to see Shishido-san hurt”, he added as he took a teabag from the selection.
“If it helps any, he was quite drunk.” Hiyoshi said calmly. “As far as I know, he doesn’t remember that he kissed the ones he kissed. I don’t think that Mukahi-san and Shishido-san are dating, if that’s what you’re worried about.” Blunt or not, Hiyoshi wasn’t the type of person to sugarcoat his words. Quite the opposite, really. “Not everyone was happy to receive Mukahi-san’s kisses, either.” He shuddered.
Choutarou blinked. They werent...? Then why did they seem so close? And all the things the fangirls said, even. Had he gotten the wrong idea...? “I... see”, he said finally after a long silence. Somehow he felt relieved to hear that they weren’t a couple. He wasn’t really sure why. “It’s all just so confusing.”
“Quite.” Hiyoshi agreed. “Don’t believe in rumours too easily.” he sipped of his tea and observed Choutarou through the steam. “Rumours are rumours until they are confirmed to be otherwise.” Which Choutarou really should be able to figure out on his own. If only the giant dork knew how to ask directly, instead of just going around and worrying. If he only could ask Shishido directly, he wouldn’t have to go around and worry about what he had on his mind as much as he did.
“Yeah, but you have to admit that they seem close. Really close”, Choutarou said and took a sip from his tea. “So it could have been true.” Yes, he should have just not thought about it at all. And it wasn’t even what he was supposed to be thinking of about his friends. They had their own life, jut like Choutarou had his.
Hiyoshi shook his head and sighed. “Ootori, you worry too much about things.” he remarked. No, no sugarcoating at all. “You always have.”
“I... I guess you’re right. Sorry, Hiyoshi”, Choutarou sighed as well.
With another shake of his head, he looked at Choutarou. “You should just learn to ask instead of go around waiting.” he reached across the table and lightly flicked his fingers at Choutarou’s forehead. “Idiot.”
Choutarou closed his eyes for a moment and then looked at Hiyoshi nodding. “I’ll try... thank you”, he said. “For being here for me.”
Hiyoshi blinked in surprise. “Ah.. Un... Right...”
