SO VIENNA TENG AND ALEX WONG.
I went to their secret show in Mountain View with
hedgerose,
popetacular,
interwebz8myhmwk,
yjd, and Livvy, whose LJ either does not exist or I do not know. We got there about three hours early, but this turned out to be a good thing, because we got in second and I got my usual FRONT ROW SEAT, right up by Vienna. Beforehand we waited around downstairs and had handmotion epic battles through the window.
Alex Wong caught the last plane out of JFK and didn't actually turn up until five minutes after the show started, as I predicted he would. Vienna started sound check without him, had us all sing bits of Soon Love Soon, and then sang A Whole New World at the behest of her friends and fans. Then Alex showed up and did lightning fast sound check while Vienna told funny stories and played House and Rainwalk Song. Then they played No Gringo, followed by Whatever You Want and then Gravity. Then my memory dries up in the OMG AWESOME. I sketched them a lot, in pencil and ink (and will be scanning the sketches in if you lot are interested in seeing them). During No Gringo, Alex needed a shaker, and while Vienna's sister went running for his, he borrowed my lactose pills. I've never been happier to be lactose intolerant.
Too soon the concert ended, and they played Antebellum and Harbour by request. Then I went to go get my pills back, and Alex handed them over with a "Oh, hi, Charlie!" Cue fainting spell. I think I actually managed to respond. Then he asked to see my sketches, since I always sketch them in concert, and signed them and asked me to send him scans. I asked him to say hi to Amber for me and then had a look at the sketches of some other people (I wasn't the only one this time, though I was the only one to draw him and Vienna). I had Vienna sign it as well, and then we headed out before I could expire. Alex did say that the Paper Raincoat was hopefully gonna be coming through Santa Cruz, as they'd said in email. I AM SO PSYCHED.
Anyway, awesome concert, definitely worth the fifteen bucks. Looking forward to the next already. 8D
