The best day evar or, what you can accomplish by being irresponsible

So yesterday goes in the books as one of the best days evar. I worked at the flower shop in the morning, and when fjorab came by to get my firefly dvds to watch, she brought me new icon art of german shepherd with faerie! Haven't been home to scan it yet, but it is so fabulous I almost squeed my pants. And I was wearing a skirt. Then, I had full intention of either working painting in the afternoon, or david and I going to our respective houses containing most of our crap and packing/trashing stuff/cleaning. And writing thank you notes. Being responsible married people that are moving in two weeks and all.  We decided after lunch that we didn't wanna. Not at all. Hmmm... irresponsible is wasting gas, right?

So, we drove to Banner Elk.

Went to the swimming hole near the Ham Shoppe that I've been planning on taking him to for two years. After losing Huckleberry knob to a fire, and the plans we've had since we started dating to watch the fireworks from there going down the drain, I decided that putting it off for an unknown long time would be regrettable. We spent about an hour skipping rocks and splashing in the water; there was lots of college kids(loud) with lots of beer(stinky) and it started clouding over.

So, we drove to Boone.

And went to the putt-putt place I have somehow managed to miss out on through FOUR YEARS of college there, and a full summer of living IN BOONE. And it was great. Quite possibly one of the most challenging courses that I have played in a while. Just one 18, but on a significant hill. It had a max par of 7, a course par of 45, and if you played par you got a free game. David played 47 and I played 60, but only cause on two of the holes where he "couldn't get it up" the hill I let him mulligan like, 10 times. I just couldn't get it in the hole. =D  Much fun playing golf where the air is clean and smells like home - wet earth, rhododendrons, and water. And, corny cuteness, we played with balls that matched our wedding candle sand colors - light and dark blue. You heard me. We got blue balls from playing putt-putt.

Ahem.

Then we were really hungry and went to Macados. Need I say more? There was black bean queso and burritos and a chicken wrap for me. Mmmm Macados. David lamented the lack of Blue Motorcycles, and pouted that soon there will be a Macados in Bristol, where they WILL be able to serve liquor... and we will be in Chicago.

Drive home was lovely, fed the dogs and cats, and then realized that the fabulous day could keep going. We went to the movies to catch the 9:20 of Prince Caspian, (and THEN we can get icecream too! I said), and saw lots of crappy previews for little kids movies(chihuahua, the horror!) and a pixar mini - cartoon that had tears running down our faces because the projector operator got the wrong reel - we saw the first minute or so of Wall -E while people walked out and complained to the management. They fixed it while we were still recovering the ability to breath  from the magician with his bunny, Alec-azam, and his magic hats. Caspian was good, I need to reread it. There was actually blood onscreen, which I pointed out to David, cause that was his sadness in the first movie. =)

Because of the movie's late restart, we got out of the theater at midnight, meaning no icecream. =( but still, quite possibly one of the funnest days of married life of all time. Yay!
