Random discovery
One of the traditions MiniPlu is missing out on, not being on campus, is MHC's annual showing of Dirty Dancing. It's a start-of-term tradition because Baby is heading off to Holyoke after their summer at Kellerman's. MiniPlu's orientation leader (a junior) tried to do a screen-share with the dozen or so women in the group last night, but couldn't get it to work, so we decided to watch the movie tonight here at home. It's not at all the same, of course, as watching with a couple thousand young women who have incorporated the movie into their college experience, but at least now MiniPlu has seen it. (She hadn't ever seen it before.)
Midway through the movie, MiniPlu thinks she identifies one of the actors, so I went to look up the cast on IMDB. Only to discover (in the process) that the actress who plays Baby and Lisa's mom is ... the grandmother from Gilmore Girls. (Kelly Bishop.) Holy shit, I would never have made that connection!
