Paint Nite 14: Campfire!

Jun 14, 2020 22:20

So, I intended to attend another Paint Nite this evening ... and then forgot to sign up. It was a 7pm class, and I suddenly remembered when it was 7:04p and by then it was just ... welp, guess I'm missing out. I'm kind of bummed because I think only one teacher is doing Island Girl and I've missed it twice now. Maybe I'll be lucky and she'll do ( Read more... )

Oh I like your rendition of this one! I actually like your fire a lot more than the sample - I scrolled past the sample because I thought the fire was kind of odd :D

It is always surprising to me - although it shouldn't be - how much more work it is to work on a bigger canvas - like the "official" 16x20 canvas size - vs the smaller ones I've been using. I have 11x14, 9x12 and 8x10 at this point - and an 8x10 is actually significantly faster to complete the steps, than even the 11x14 canvas!

I've only done the 16x20 canvas once - at my very first Paint Nite (the only one that was in-person, just a week before everything shut down) - and, yeah, that one felt like SO much work! But I also think the canvas takes more work than paper - like it absorbs more paint or something, so it's harder to get everything covered up properly. Definitely like the 9x12 paper better.

As for the Island Girl on the 27th - I was scrolling ahead on offerings late last night and I saw that! My husband's aunt is hosting a family get-together that day, though (her son and grandkids are visiting from AZ), and we still haven't decided if we're brave enough to attend yet. If we go, I'm not sure I'd be back in time for the Paint Nite so I'm not going to sign up just yet. But I've got the tab open!
