Celebrity stylings, idiot boys, and a rashy girl

Am still generally pleased with the new haircut, especially how swishy it is compared to the longer style. It's a bit harder to keep out of my way during exercise, but I'll live. And, yes, I'll eventually want it longer again, but it's been awhile since it was this short, and it makes for a nice change.

However, I must point out that yesterday MiniPlu said - despite approving of the haircut - that I looked like Snape.

Tonight, Two said my hair reminded him of Kylo Ren. (I've got kind of a larger nose, doesn't help any. :P)

Dark-haired dark/villainous characters. That's what I want to look like, yeah. I'm wondering if perhaps we shouldn't throw in the Winter Soldier for good measure, as long as we're at it?

On an unrelated note: Two's gymnastics team held an end-of-season celebratory dinner at Old Country Buffet (chain buffet restaurant) tonight. The boys were all cautioned not to go so hog-wild that they got sick and couldn't go to school (or, worse, miss the State meet this weekend). Do you think any of them listened? Of course not. We were overhearing boys brag that they were on their fifth slushie/Slurpee thing, saw boys with giant piles of fries with lakes of ranch dressing or cheese sauce ... you get the idea. Two ate mostly cheese and starch (potatoes in different forms, mac & cheese, the aforementioned cheese sauce) although he did at least make an attempt at a little salad and canteloupe along the way. He and MiniPlu each had a slushie, then he had a bit of ice cream, and I was already after him not to have more sugar because he'd had a popsicle earlier in the day. And then he and MiniPlu came back with a Sprite-slushie mixture, which MiniPlu had goaded him into having a chug contest (loser had to pay the winner $1). Two won. Sort of. You could see almost immediately that he wasn't feeling too great, with the combination of stomach freeze, added sugar, and rapidly-ingested carbonation. He claimed to feel fine, but his face told a different story, and by the time we had to leave so I could get to dog-training class in time, I was seriously worried he was going to puke before we made it home. (Spoiler alert: he didn't.) But it was a very stressful, miserable trip home, made worse by a traffic detour. He survived the evening without incident, flopped on the sofa and watching Glee while MiniPlu and I went to class, but he still was clearly feeling off when he tottered off to bed ("tottered" because he was complaining of feeling a little dizzy, which I'm subscribing to sugar crash). I wanted to throttle both kids for getting Two into this situation, although MiniPlu already felt terrible enough for her role, and Two is clearly getting punished enough by how miserable he feels. Still, ARGH.

(Irony: the Glee ep he chose to watch was the one where everyone gets drunk and has to deal with hangover and drunk-dialing aftermath.)

Hopefully he'll be back to himself by tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, MiniPlu developed an inexplicable bumpy rash on her lower back, below the waist, this morning. This evening it seemed to get worse, so I had her take some Benedryl before bed. No idea what she seems to be reacting to, but hopefully THAT will go away by tomorrow, as well, especially since she's getting a frenectomy after school tomorrow. (Minor oral surgery; the band of tissue that connects your upper lip to your gums, right between the two top teeth, comes down too far on her, like overinvolved webbing on your fingers or toes. It's getting clipped.) Anyway, I'm just thinking she doesn't need to be having some sort of mysterious allergic issue going on at the same time, poor kid.

miniplu, two, wtf, gymnastics, health:family
