It's Thanksgiving, so we have three Korean moms downstairs right now, singing karaoke. They are adorably out of tune and sync with each other and the music, but are making the effort anyway. Every so often they manage to hit a note of spectacular awfulness. My sister and I are not even trying not to laugh any more (but we only laugh because we think it's cute, honest!)
Same sister and I had a conversation earlier about how we think Lord of the Rings would be vastly improved if everything were kept exactly the same except the ring was the size of a small house. This was absolutely hilarious to both of us for some reason. We imagined, for instance, Gollum and Bilbo playing the riddle game, and Gollum going, "what has it got in its pocketsesssss?" and staring at this giant ring shaped house sized lump in Bilbo's side pocket: "String! Or nothing!" Or, you know, otherwise serious moments being ruined by the ring just sitting there in the background like a huge awkward piece of scenery. I don't know. Sis and I apparently have a weird joint sense of humor.
Anyway, it's nice to be home. I'm sad that the break is going to be over so soon-- all I want to do right now is sit at home and draw tons and tons of Star Trek fanart and squee over White Collar. (That stuff you may have heard about the chemistry between the two leads? It's true. Also Peter Burke may be my favorite TV character since Wilson. <3).
About White Collar-- I love the fandom as much as the show, right now. I mean, White Collar fandom sprung up fully formed overnight like Athena out of the head of Zeus or something. Well, okay. but inappropriate mythological metaphors aside, it's awesome. <3 Makes me wish I were good at writing fic or meta or anything to describe how fun it is. For now, I'll just link to
china_shop's LJ, which has been my new fandom happy place over the past few weeks.
Imouto-chan and I are going to round off the night by watching a movie off Wikipedia's
worst movie list. so many choices! We're currently waffling between "Manos: Hands Of Fate" and 'Santa Claus Conquers The Martians". Tough choice.
Happy Thanksgiving, flist!
