I had such a great time in Regina...we left last Friday and drove to The Pas, stayed the night and then ventured the rest of the way to Regina. We were the first of our buddies supporters to show up, so we waited, maybe a whole 5 minutes, for his fiance to get there, and we headed out for dinner. Later that night we headed to an Irish bar where, like a good Irish girl I ordered a pint of Guinness, which tasted like a mouthful of pennies at first, but once you chug the first half, it didn't really matter what the rest tasted like. Sunday morning was church at RCMP depot, a tour of the facilities, and then my hubby and headed out to visit with some family while our friends had some sort of family meeting with the RCMP. Sunday night we had dinner and went to a wine and cheese for the graduates. Monday morning was graduation, and boy do those folks look awesome all in red serge. They signed papers and official stuff in the morning, then there was a lunch in the mess hall, a parade after lunch with the band and marches and the whole bit, including the 20yr old horses they have at depot. I guess 20 is old for a horse, I did not really know that. After that was the badge presentation, and when my bud received his, I was very close to tears. I am sooooo proud of him!! We went back to the hotel for a bit and got changed for the formal dinner that night. What a spread! Great food, although I am not sure that the chicken was cooked as well as it could have been...after dinner and drinks, we headed back to the Irish bar with my buddies fiance, sister and her boyfriend, and had a few more before we turned in for the night, it would be an early morning. The buddies fiance work me up about 5:45, as her and her grandparents were leaving at 6, so we got up after saying goodbye to her, took our bud back to depot one last time, had breakfast at the airport and said our goodbyes. I did not want to go. There were too few days to be together. But, they are off to start their new life together, I just got an email from the fiance that they have arrived safely in Nanimo, BC, and have a great view of the ocean. Good for them, I can't wait to get out there to visit!
After that, we drove to Winnipeg to visit with a good friend there. We didn't do much but go for supper on Tuesday, but Wednesday we shopped and shopped, and I finally GOT MY INDUSTRIAL DONE!!!!!!! For anyone who may not know, I have wanted this piercing for ages and have been told I could not have it because I was not coming back to the city to have the bar put in. Basically, its 2 ear piercings, right on the fold of the ear, then after it heals, you put a bar between the 2 of them. I have loved it for ages, but never had the chance to get it. The person who did it looked at my other piercings and agreed that I had enough experience to wait the 6 weeks of healing (I have rings in there now) and then install the bar myself, or with the hubbys help. I also told him that if I had any trouble with the bar that I would just leave the rings in till the next time I was in Winnipeg and have him do it for me. YEAH FOR PIERCINGS!!! Unfortunately, there was not enough time for the hubby to get a tattoo, but maybe when he is down there in November. So, anyways, shopped more on Thursday, and then we had supper with my parents since they were on the way to Ottawa for a War Amps conference. Ate and drank too much, (which I had done most of the week anyways) and even curled up with the hubby on the balcony and snoozed a bit. Sadly, Friday morning came too quickly, and although I tried my best to convince him to stay, the hubby had to come back to work so shortly after 1pm, we headed from the city and came home. Since my parents are out of town, we are having my younger sister over also, so I didn't come back to be a mommy to just 1 kid, but 2. Not that I have to play mommy or anything with my sis, she is 18, but its a crowded house again.
The hubby worked on Saturday, and I basically relaxed and cuddled with my kitties, and Sunday we started scraping the paint from the front of the house, since its getting really late in the year to start painting. At least we have had 2 other hands, my in laws, so, although the scrapping sucks, the conversation has been good. Came back to work today, and remembered that I hate my job. Here's the plan though:
The hubby has been pretty dead set against talking about moving at this point in time. Something snapped Saturday though. He came home from work and asked when our bro graduates and turns 18. 2.5yrs til 18 and 3 full school years till grad. He wants to start planning now for a move that summer. That way my bro can be done school, and because he will be an adult, can choose for himself if he wants to come with us or not. *WOW* I was pretty surprised. It does make sense for us though, since we are such planners, and we have the time to look around and see where we would like to move and make improvements to our house so we can sell it for more. We can pay off any debts, and save as much as we can to secure a new life somewhere else. Our baby (if that ever happens)will not be in school yet, so it would be a good time for her to move also. Whether or not I will be able to tolerate this particular job for that amount of time remains to been seen though. Wow, I have typed a lot and don't know how much I have really said...I think, for now, I will leave it at that.
Over and Out
