Although a day early, I thought I would reminisce about 2005. Another year over, and a new one to begin in less then 36 hours. It’s been quite a year. One of the biggest changes in my life was my best girlfriend leaving home and moving to Lethbridge in February. It’s been a tough one for me that’s for sure. Even if we only had 15 minutes to visit in a day, we always made sure we saw each other. When the hubby and I would have a disagreement, her place was where I went for advice, or sometimes she would help me give my head a shake because I was being the bitch. At least there is email, MSN and my $15 a month unlimited long distance.
This year my hubby and I met some new friends, and rekindled the friendship of friends that we hadn’t seen in years when we traveled to Alberta. One of my life long dreams came true on that trip when I finally got to go to the Drumheller dinosaur museum. Alberta was a trip that I will never forget, and unfortunately it went by too fast. On other trips we got to stay in a $200 a night hotel, and walk the Bears on Broadway with my sister and her boyfriend, and my nephew. Over the year I think that my older sis and I got closer, and are seeing each other as friends, not just sisters. As usual, there were family situations, which at this point in time, seem to be getting better. Maybe 2006 will be the best year that I can remember with my family. I can hope.
My work life hasn’t changed, so there is not much to report on that, but its still good, and I still love my job. My health has been decent though this year, a few concerns with my thyroid, but the RA has been pretty dormant. My mother in law had a double hip replacement this year and is doing great. Nothing ever keeps that woman down, although when she was away for the surgeries I was pretty worried about her.
Another interesting change has been a god friend for many years bought herself a house and moved in with her boyfriend. Then the addition of his 2 year old. Insta-family is what I have been calling it. She seems happy, and I wish the best for the 3 of them. She did say that she saw herself with a kid before she got married; I guess her telepathy worked in this case!
My hubby and I have been doing well. We have our squabbles, but I don’t know who doesn’t. He has been my strongest anchor for 9 years, and each year that passes blows me over. Most people are surprised to hear how long we have been together, despite our ages. I like the fact that when we got together, most people said that we would never make it. I can’t wait for a school reunion.
All in all, I think 2005 was a pretty good year. It went by fast; I think as we get older, time goes faster. When I was a kid, summers lasted forever, and the school year lasted even longer. Now, I can’t believe that months just seems to slip away. That’s why we need to make the best of each day, each month, and each year, because you never know where you may be the next.
As for the New Years Resolutions: Not exactly on New Years, but after January 2, I have a buddy and we are going to quit smoking together. She is bringing me the program that she is using today and we are going to do this. I think that one thing that will help me is that she quit smoking about a year ago, but started up again about 6 weeks ago. Regardless, she was able to quit, and has been smoking now for a short amount of time, so it will hopefully be easier for her to quit this time. I also need to lose a few pounds and exercise more. Without dance class, I think that I will start walking around the block each day and since I have the music from dance class, dance 2-3 times a week to the dances that I know. All this in preparation for 2007, and a little surprise that year that for now I will keep to myself. So that’s about it. I guess now we have to see what 2006 really brings us! Happy New Years to everyone, and see you in 2006!
