BACKGROUND INFROMATION ON KARAKA VILLAGE
KIRIKA AMANO'S HOMEPLACE.
for Harvest Moon Meadow RPG.

Karaka village is small fishing village to the south. The Village itself is small and has a fishy odor to it. Many of the people who live in the small community have been born and raised there and they never tend to leave it. Most of its economy comes from the many fish that the local fisherman catches throughout their days.

Education isn’t really of value in the village. Yes they do try to educate the youngsters however normally at a young age they get a job on the pier as a fisherman’s aid. Where they would have the tasks of placing the bait on the hooks which can be quite dangerous if you’re not careful. Another task is to place the catch in ice after it is caught to try to keep it fresh so it can be sold on the market that day. One of the worst jobs is cleaning up after the fisherman has skinned the fish and chopped off its head. As for many children this is their future and nothing will ever change that.

The small island is in a terrible geological location which causes it to have terrible hurricanes almost every other week. The island climate isn’t anything you’d expect and island to have. The climate is always chilly and get’s snow quite often. The sky tends to always have a dark cloud covering over it which the sunlight can barely pierce through. They don’t really have a good growing season which makes farming almost impossible here. Especially since there is always a gentle winter frost cover almost every morning. Karaka rarely sees climates that go along with spring and summer; it tends to tip the scale more in favor of fall and winter.  Not much plant life really grows on this barren island maybe a few grasses occasionally but nothing to special which makes getting medicines for the sick very hard.

Normally after every hurricane famine strikes hard on the people in Karaka with diseases like Bubonic plague, small pox’s, Cholera, and many others. However those are the three top killers of many villagers. Along with the Diseases is the problem of rebuilding the destroyed buildings and boats.
