Author: AoiTsukikage
Rating: R overall, NC-17 for chapter seventeen
Characters/Pairing: Darren Criss/Chris Colfer (CrissColfer, RPS)
Chapter: 18/18
Word Count: ~1200 / Total Word Count: ~19,150
Summary/Warnings: Done for an anonymous tumblr prompt: Darren loses his memory and wakes up in his apartment, and calls Chris immediately because he assumes they are dating due to all the texts and pictures.

“Dude, you have to go back!” Chord says once Darren’s finished telling his story, blushing a bit because in his mind he’s straight and Chord doesn’t know about him and Chris, except the part of his mind telling him that no, Chord does, and Chris is Darren’s boyfriend, and fuck, this is so messed up.  “Can you even…you just left him there?”

“I panicked!” Darren admits, and part of him is glad that he’s got everything back but getting back two years of your life in one fell swoop is really uncomfortable and it’s like his brain’s not quite big enough to digest all of it, thoughts and phrases jumping around and he’s not even sure which way is up anymore.  “And there’s no time, I’ve got an interview to get ready for…shit, the interview,” he moans, mussing his hair until Chord pulls him in for a hug and Darren curls closer, knowing he’s safe here.  “I’m such a dick.”

“You’re not a dick.  Chris may, however, believe you’re a dick if you don’t let him know what’s going on.  He’ll think you just had sex with him and left, and really, what else is he supposed to think?” Chord looks concerned and Darren immediately reaches for his phone, cursing when he can’t find it in his pockets.

“Shit.  Must have left it at Chris’,” he groans and buries his head in his hands.  “I could call him, but I really don’t want to do this over the phone.”

“So let’s go back,” Chord grabs his elbow and tugs him to his feet as Darren complies, but once he’s there he stands in place, still utterly confused.  “Darren?  Are you…do you still…”

“I…don’t  know,” Darren admits, shuffling his feet.  “I mean, there’s part of my head that just sees him as a friend and then there’s this new part that sees him as so much more and I…I love him.  I really do.  But I don’t...” he stops, because he’s not making sense to himself.  Yes, he loves Chris.  Maybe he always has and it just took losing some of those memories of friendship to make it happen, but those feelings haven’t changed.  “I love him.”

“Good enough for me,” Chord slings an arm around Darren’s shoulders and steers him to the door and out to his car, both of them rushing to get to Chris’ place before it’s too late.

~~~
It’s too late, of course, and Darren rushes through the empty house before finding his phone on the floor in the bedroom, the bed unmade as if Chris had just sprung out of it and out of the house, and Darren holds his phone in his hand and tries not to cry.
He notices a fair number of missed calls on his phone, obviously Chris trying to get a hold of him even though he couldn’t answer, and Chord sets his hands on Darren’s shoulders.
“Hey.  Don’t freak out, man.  You know there’s only one place he’d go,” he murmurs and Darren nods, knowing he’s right.
They need to get to Cory’s.
~~~

“Give me one reason why I shouldn’t slam the door in your face,” is what Cory greets them with, and the older man is so docile that Darren’s sure that would be a threat of physical violence from anybody else, but he’s not losing Chris.

Not like this.

“I remember.  My memory came back this morning, and I panicked, and I…” Darren pauses and rubs his temples, because he’s starting to get a killer headache, and he sees Cory’s gaze soften before the other man reaches to pat his shoulder, smiling at Darren’s involuntary wince.

“He’s really broken up.  He thinks that…I don’t know.  You need to talk to him,” Cory says quietly and Darren nods, entering the house and getting questioning stares from a couple of guys who must be Cory’s house-mates before he enters the living room and sees Chris sitting on the sofa, looking like a wreck.

His face is blotchy, eyes red from crying, hair mussed and still in his pyjamas like he really had run straight out of his house and driven over to Cory’s, and Darren knows where his heart lies in an instant.

Memory or no memory, he’s in love with this man, and that’s all that matters.

“Chris,” he croaks out, voice thick with emotion, and the younger man tries to compose himself and sits up quickly, but his fingers tightening on the blanket around his shoulders betray his uncertainty.

“Darren!  I…” he pauses and swallows, shifting back a little as Darren moves closer and drops to his knees in front of him.  “You…you were gone.  I thought…”

“My memory.  It was back when I woke up this morning, and it was too much, I freaked out,” Darren weakly grabs Chris’ fingers and heaves a sigh of relief when his grip is lightly returned.  “It wasn’t you, my head was just all scrambled, Chris.”

“So you…you remember.  That we’re just friends,” Chris is closing himself off again, Darren can tell, so he squeezes his fingers and shakes his head.

“No.  I think this might have been the wake-up call I needed.  I think I’ve liked you longer than I’ve admitted to myself, and maybe it took losing my memory to move past that and just accept that…I love you.  I’m in love with you,” he whispers and Chris gasps, Darren realizing that it’s the first time either of them have said the words out loud to each other.  “I promise.  This isn’t a joke, Chris, I…”

He’s cut off by Chris kissing him, sloppy and desperate, hands framing his cheeks as Darren sobs in relief and kisses him back.

They pull apart to clapping and wolf-whistles, Darren pausing to flip off Cory and Chord who are leading their own cheering section, and he kisses Chris again for good measure.

“I love you, too.  In case that wasn’t clear,” Chris grins and Darren rests their foreheads together, nodding.  “But you’ve got an interview to do, so you’d better get home and get ready for that.”

“Yeah,” Darren agrees.  “And then you’d all better watch it with me tonight,” he addresses the room at large.

“Of course, man,” Chord promises.  “But go or you won’t make it.”

Darren turns to leave as Chris grabs his wrist, tugging him back for a moment and into another deep kiss.

“What was that for?” Darren laughs, pulling Chris to his feet and into a proper hug.

“Luck,” Chris responds breezily, and he’s so radiant in that moment, so happy, that Darren knows he’ll never want anything else.  “At least you’ve got your memories now.”

“You know what would be a great way to give me more memories?” he asks bravely, knowing that this is right, and Chris shakes his head.  “Tonight?  When we get home…I’d like you to fuck me this time,” he smiles as Chris looks struck between laughing and gasping, the flush on his cheeks definitely the beginnings of arousal, and Darren kisses his cheek and pulls away, heading out of the house and over to his car, mind still reeling a little.

Darren Criss has a boyfriend.

And really, he doesn’t think he could ever be happier.

Notes:

1. And so we’ve come to the end!  I had a blast writing this and I hope that, for my first CrissColfer fic, it wasn’t too bad!!

2. I just realized that I started this on the anniversary of their first on-screen kiss (March 15) and ended it on the anniversary of their tour kiss (well, give or take a few hours xP).

3. Let me know what you thought :D
