IF FANDOM WERE MY LOVER meme, stolen from amuly

The one who seduced you, screwed you over, broke your heart in a million pieces, and laughed about it is genuinely sorry, but to whom you're reluctant to grant forgiveness, because you know how that song and dance would go:

Torchwood. No question.  The first two seasons were flawless but it’s turned into something I just can’t enjoy: no visible aliens, no quickly wrapped up stories, no Ianto to stare at, no Owen to snark with, no Tosh to be beautiful and brilliant, no laughs at all, really, and it’s just…not the show I fell in love with.  I watched Torchwood because it could laugh at itself and basically come out with a grand old, “Let’s catch aliens, have sex, and go for a pint afterward!” mentality and…none of that exists anymore.  So yes, the dark, edgy, action-packed, snarkily humorous show I fell in love with is gone and what we’re left with is…not much.  :(

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp:

RENT.  I’ve never written much RENT fanfic but dear God I love Mark/Roger and every time I watch the movie or listen to the soundtrack I’m continually blown away by Adam and Anthony’s chemistry (plus I’ve, y’know, seen them live…) so I like to re-read the old, really good fanfics now and again.  And I still love the boys.

The mysterious dark one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 AM at weird coffee houses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized s/he really was fucking crazy:

Harry Potter.  I mean, I love it, and I’ve written for it, but the fandom’s actually getting too BIG for me and I just can’t keep up with everything and yes.  I still read Sirius/Remus and it will forever be my HP OTP, but I just don’t really keep up with the fandom or the fics anymore.

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor and whom you'd still really like to get with again, although you're relieved s/he doesn't actually live in town:

Hetalia.  I had about a month where I was obsessed and watched everything and wrote and then it just…stopped.  I should really re-watch it, though, because I, um, have a fish named after a Hetalia character so I obviously loved it enough to name a fish after it.  Love you, Toris.

The steady:

Glee.  Finn/Kurt have been my OTP for over a year and while I do dabble in other pairings they’re my babies and I adore both of them and the actors that play them and I don’t see myself falling away from them anytime soon.  I mean yes, Klaine is dapper and adorable and I love writing them but they don’t own me the way Kinn does, so…yeah.

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties, but with whom you've never gotten serious (and find that it's a bit of a shame you haven't, at that):

Doctor Who, probably.  I want to write more and all I can come up with is one-shots, but I love the characters and they’re fun to write although I just don’t see myself doing it all that often.  Rory Williams is my spirit animal, but that’s another story…ooh, also Death Note, because it’s incredible but again all I can come up with is one-shots and while I’d like to write more I somehow don’t see it happening.

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with, but ultimately you're just good buddies:

Avatar: The Last Airbender.  Yes, I shipped Zukka or whatever it was called and I love the show, but I’ve never posted a fanfiction about it and I doubt I ever will despite my fervent love of everything Avatar.  Except for the live movie.  I don’t think I’ll ever watch that…

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool person except it's never really gone anywhere:

Queer as Folk.  Love it, love the show, will probably never write so much as a word of fanfiction for it.

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at them and thinking, "How the hell did they land all these cool people?"

Merlin.  I’ve never watched it and while it’s been on my -watch this- list for a long time I’ve just never gotten around to it, but there are a *lot* of cool people in the Merlin fandom.

The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and who you measure all other potential partners against:

Ouran High School Host Club.  Three years ago I wrote SO MUCH STUFF for it and now I just dabble in it, but I love Ouran like nothing else and it just makes me so happy.  Also One Piece to an extent, although my writing for that obviously lasted longer than just a summer.

The one you recently met at a party and would like to get to know better:

Oh, gosh.  Maybe Supernatural?  I’ve only seen about half of the Wendigo episode (for Cory, because that’s how I roll, obviously) but it looks interesting and I think I could get into it if I tried.

The old flame that you wouldn't totally object to hooking up with again for a one night romp if only they'd clean up a bit:

Les Miserables.  And not that it would clean up a bit, but there just really *isn’t* a fandom anymore even though the book/play were done LONG before fandom even existed, but for some reason when I got into the fandom there was a giant resurgence and now it’s almost completely dead.  But hello, like ten twenty-something sexually-ambiguous French boys?  Yes, please.

Your hot new flame:

The Glee Project, even though it’s over, even though it’s reality, and even though I’ll never write fiction for it, it introduced me to one of the greatest bromances EVER and I’m so glad I watched it if only for them.  You know who.  Dameron.  (For those of you who’ve never watched TGP, Cameron Mitchell and Damian McGinty.  Go look them up on YouTube, they do vids and such together).  Cam’s just the boy you want to marry, he’s sweet and stayed true to himself and is just a really great person, and Damian’s adorable and Irish and, as the running joke goes, looks like Finn and Kurt’s lovechild and is just…they’re great.  They’re pretty much why I watched the show in the end.  Sorry to gush.

The one who stole your significant other:

Glee.  Klaine.  Because so many people jumped ship when Blaine came into the picture, and although the Finn/Kurt shippers are still fairly numerous and just the greatest people in the world, there are so many people who go ‘ew!  Incest!’ and yes, I shake my head at them, but I know *all* the original Kurt-ships suffered when Blaine came into the picture.  I love you, Blaine, but you stole the shippers.
