I was a bit disappointed by this episode, honestly. I mean I know they can't all be corkers, but I was really looking forward to it, as a change of pace and a nice pirate romp. Steven Thompson's writing is just a bit too inconsistent though, and I couldn't get properly into the story because of it.

The twist was good, I didn't see it coming either. I'm going to cut this down, because I was basically just agreeing with everything you said. It was entertaining, but I think it had the potential to be better. Or the standards have been raised so high that it would have been impossible to meet them, IDK.

Next week: NEILGAIMANNEILGAIMANNEILGAIMAN aka imminent heart failure \o/

Oh, I completely agree; it wasn't nearly as engaging as the last two and the writing seemed on the weak side.

And is it bad that I totally knew next week was the Neil Gaiman episode even though I've practically read nothing of what he's written?

The continuity problems should at least have been spotted in the editing process, unless some scenes that would have made sense of them were cut. As it is, it seems a bit of a slap-dash job of a script.

Well, I think it's bad that you haven't read much Neil Gaiman :| I do know his style doesn't appeal to everyone ;)

Freaking hell. You. Read. Now. Or as soon as you can get your hands on a Neil Gaiman book. Then.

Good Omens is my absolute, complete, utter favorite book on the planet so I´d recommend getting started with that, ease you into his style since it also has a lot of wonderfully wacky Pratchett to light up the dark.
If you're into the serious and dark, I recommend finding someone who owns the Sandman series (since buying it all in one go is bloody expencive) and buying a copy of American Gods. Also, Stardust is just lovely and the Graveyard book is bloody awesome and reads really easily; courtesy of it being a children's book.

Alright, done barging into all of your conversations now. Sorry? ^^;;

A little disappointed here. I thought a pirate episode should be more, uh, fun. I did like the twist - didn't see that coming.

And that last scene - OK kid is still on life support but the other pirates aren't? Not sure how that happened.

I agree about the episode, although I think watching 'Pirates of the Caribbean' has kind of prepared me for slightly darker pirate stories, even though I wished they could have put a bit more humor into it.

And my theory for the last scene is that the siren took people who were injured regardless of the injury, and since if most of the crew had gone back to 'their' world all they would have had was a little burn or a cut they would have survived regardless, whereas the kid would have died because of his fever, so taking them off the life support wouldn't kill them. I think.

Yup, mister whot'sisname disappeared from the hold. Huge glaring error there.

My theory is that the Tardis is so confused since Amy is in multiple ways crossing her own and the kidlings timeline; she's a 2011 girl, kidling was made somewhere between 2000 years ago and 20000 years in the future, and kidling was born, going on the fact that she's in 1969 seeming about... hmmm.... 8-ish? Born around 1961. Possibly under not quite natural circumstances. Also, if kidling has timelord capabilities, she's a little out of time.

I actually really, really liked the ep? Liked the plot, liked the PotC references and like that it's giving us a bit of a breather inbetween the edge of your seat OMFGPLOTTT!!! O.O episodes of the last two weeks and the OMFGHORRORACTIONEXCITEMENTMOREPLOTOMGOMG!!! that the preview seems to promise us for next week.

I was so confused. I was all, "Wait. Where did he go?" and I'm REALLY surprised the editors didn't catch that one...

And that makes sense; even the TARDIS probably couldn't figure all of that out right away!!

And I liked the episode for a breather, too; plus it was about pirates, so that had me loving it from the get-go :) (On that note, I finished your request fic if you want to read it, and now it seems strangely appropriate considering the whole pirate-thing xP)

Yeah, despite all the bloody weird timey wimey stuff they're usuallt awesome at catching it, and this wasn't even a time-skip or reality skip or anything! Just a scene to scene skip!

Thanks! I hadn't seen it! Sorry, stuff has been chaotic for me. Loving it so far! :D
