Midnight
So. I have a new cellphone, and it's a
Nokia E63. If you know me, you'd know why I chose it. If you don't, well, duh, it's blue, isn't it? Heh. Sarcasm aside, I've been wanting this phone for a while, but I really loved - and still love actually -
Asul, my Sony Ericsson z610i.
However, several things happened that pushed me to get a new phone. One is of course when I saw the Nokia E63. It threw me off at first because it's a QWERTY phone and that didn't appeal to my text monster self. However, it was blue, which is a big factor, and it looked pretty professional despite its color - a characteristic that my old clamshell phone was seriously lacking. Two was when my office friend Sam got a Nokia E63. How dare he buy the phone I wanted! Haha. He got the red version though. The nice thing was I got to play with it, and the more I tinkered with it, the more I liked it. Third was that although Asul looked fine on the outside, the keypad was falling apart. The lovely white shell inside was crumbling, and it started bugging me. Fourth, was when friend
Sheva decided to
get a new phone line and the Nokia E63 through her office, and she asked if I wanted the same thing. Of course I jumped at the chance, and here we are. Thanks for hooking me up, Shevy! Alright, here go the pics.
Here's what my homescreen looks like. The Nokia E63 has two modes - Business and Personal. I named my Business mode "Trabaho" (Work) and Personal is "Tambay" (Hanging Out). My phone is on default "Tambay" mode of course, with access to my Gmail and Media Gallery.
This is Midnight with the Halo case I got in Megamall. I wanted a soft and not-so-fussy case.
My favorite - and the most useful - feature to me is WorldMate. I have it on
Kahel, my iPAQ, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it in the phone. (Kahel means orange. Yes I've taken to naming my gadgets now because it gets confusing when I sync them to my notebook, who's named Tangerine by the way.)
This app is so important to me because it helps me keep track of different timezones. It helps me a lot with work because my boss e-mails and asks me to call at random times, and it helps me keep track of relatives' timezones when we voice call or chat. My WorldMate has Manila, Philippines of course; Los Angeles, California where our US office and my boss is; Tokyo, Japan because it's my favorite place in the world and my friend Rex is there; Edmonton, Canada, where my cousins Lei and Phil and their families are; and Hanoi, Vietnam, where my cousin Camille is. It's missing Wales, UK where my cousin Athos is, but there isn't enough room. WorldMate has other features that are incredibly useful for traveling, like weather info, flight alerts, a world map and a currency converter.
Guess what my other favorite app is? It's QuickOffice, haha. Am I really turning into a workaholic? I hope so, heh.
And this is what "Trabaho" mode looks like. It allows me to go straight to Active Notes, WorldMate and Gmail.
Sheva and I met up after work in Glorietta last May 14 so she could hand me my phone. We had dinner at HotShots, and my office friends
Hilda and Sam accompanied me. I had Sam show Sheva his phone, because Sheva wanted the red version, but Globe ran out of units so she had to get blue, same as me. Sam gave us tips about the phone too. I'm glad I opened the box with my friends, because it made the initial phone tinkering a lot more fun.
