My officemate Jerry left for the US last Friday. This is particularly hard on me because he was the only PC World-er and close office friend I had left who was actually there when I started. He told me he was leaving the day after his plans got finalized and the day he resigned. It was so sudden, I ended up crying in front of our office building, where we talked. I was so happy for him, but at the same time, I was so sad he was leaving, so I just swore and cursed at him for an hour, heh.
The good thing is that for a guy who didn't want any despedidas (farewell parties), he sure had a ton of random ones. At least everyone was able to spend time with him before he left. I don't know what I'm going to do without him in the office though - he was my shock absorber there. I'm really going to miss this guy.
Jerber, I'll see you later.
1: Lunch at Pancake House
I had to keep his leaving a secret from everyone in the office for a while, but after a few days, Jerry told Sean, and we had lunch at Pancake House.
2: Impromptu drinking session at Aling Lucing's
Knowing that Jerry didn't want any despedidas, my officemates just dragged Jerry a few nights to this hole-in-the-wall restaurant with cheap beer in front of our new office.
3: Random trip to the Mall of Asia
Jerry, Sean, and I attended an event, and then dropped by Mall of Asia afterwards.
4: The official PC World despedida at Dampa Macapagal
The old skool PC World-ers (former officemates Malou, Mia, Shiir, plus current officemates me and Sean, plus a guest officemate Clifford) got together at the Julie's branch in Dampa Macapagal to say goodbye to Jerry. In true old skool PC World fashion, we stuffed ourselves silly that night with rice, green mango salad, baked tahong (mussels) with cheese, sweet and sour shrimp, grilled pork slices, and calamares (calamari squid).
5: Trip to Binondo
We found out that a lot of us in the office have never been to Binondo (the Philippines' Chinatown) before, so our resident Chinese person, Clifford, organized a trip there. We ate at an authentic Chinese restaurant, went to a Chinese pastry store, and stopped by the Binondo church.
6: Final goodbye at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
The day Jerry left, he dropped by the office in the morning to sort some last minute stuff. When he was done, Clifford, Ams, and I went with him to the Coffee Bean to meet with Malou, who gave him the DVD of memories that we put together for him. Afterwards, Jerry walked back with us to our office building, and we said goodbye to him.
