Chapter Seventeen: Diamonds
Uruha woke up the next day feeling very warm and happy. Aoi's arm was wrapped around his shoulders and he seemed to warm the whole bed up. Uruha stared up at the ceiling with a euphoric smile on his face. He stayed like that for a few minutes, then heard Aoi speak.
"Good morning, fiance."
"Good morning to you too, fiance." Uruha replied cheerful.
"Aren't we a little happy this morning," Aoi commented, smiling down at Uruha. Uruha beamed back at Aoi, resting his hands on the baby.
"A little over a month, right?" Aoi asked.
"Right."
"I can't wait."
"I can. I think it will be painful."
"It'll be painful to watch you. I'd hate to see you in so much agony."
Uruha giggled. "Oh you."
"And I'd hate to see you with clothes on, too."
Uruha laughed again as Aoi pulled the blanket over their heads and tickled Uruha.
"Nonono! Stop, stop, I think I have to pee!" Uruha wriggled and laughed.
Aoi grinned in reply and helped Uruha sit upright.
"Go pee, then." Uruha stood up and walked towards the bathroom. He felt Aoi smack his butt before he walked in.

"Lube, lube, and oh? What's this?" Ruki, Kai and Uruha were sitting around the mountain of gifts, unwrapping them.
"Lube." Uruha and Kai answered in unison, not bothering to look up.
"Yeah, yeah. Lube." Ruki unwrapped the long tube and read the label stuck onto it. The gifts Ruki recieved were mainly lubricants. There was organic lube, scented lube, tingly lube; all sorts of lubes.
"I got this," Kai said, holding up some soap and smelling it. Kai was especially happy today, although he wouldn't tell them why.
"Oooh! Dior!" Uruha said, holding up a baby nightie. Uruha looked around to where Ruki was bending over. A flash of blue and yellow made Uruha laugh out loud.
"Ruki. Is that Spongebob?"
Kai started to laugh too. "I guess Reita isn't into thongs."
"NO!" Ruki stood up and made a face at the two of them. "He's just, like, kinda too big to wear them...like...his thingy's too big."
"EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW!!" Uruha and Kai looked at each other and started to laugh and cover each other's ears. Ruki rolled his eyes and set down another bottle of lube.
"So I'm wearing them. It's, like, his loss anyway."
"Who lives in a pineapple, under the sea..." Kai sang quietly.
"HEY! Stop it, like, will you?" Ruki made another face at them.
Uruha stuck his tongue out at Ruki. They all laughed as Ruki unwrapped another bottle of lubricant. The doorbell rang.
Still chuckling, Ruki stood up. "I'll get it!!" He declared as he raced towards the door.
Swinging it open, the smile slid off his face.
It was Yumi.
From before they moved.
With a little boy.
Who looked exactly like Reita.

Sitting in the living room was strange. Yumi, her son, Rei, sat on the red loveseat, and Kai, Uruha and Ruki sat on the leather sofa across from her. Kai made everyone cups of tea, which Ruki left untouched. The situation was extremely awkward, and the gift wrap, Christmas decor and more importantly, the bottles of lube lying promiscuously about made matters slightly more awkward. Yumi's son wobbled around, holding onto the sofa edge and looking at everyone.
"So. Umm... Yumi! How are you?" Kai asked brightly.
Yumi's eyes wandered away from the lube and towards Kai.
"Oh...uh...fine, I guess. Having a son changes you." Yumi eyed Uruha's bump.
Uruha looked at Ruki, who was looking at the ceiling like he never actually saw it before.
"Yumi," Uruha started off. "Is Reita the father?"
Yumi sighed and looked at Ruki, then back at Kai and Uruha, who both nodded.
"Yes." She whispered. Ruki looked back at her. Uruha could see that he was biting the inside of his cheek.
"But I don't want to start anything with him again! I'm already married!!" Yumi said hurriedly. She eyed Uruha's pregnancy for a moment before continuing. "I just want to let him know he has a son out there in the world! He deserves to know that much." Yumi's eyes narrowed when she finished, as if she were mad at Reita.
Kai gasped. "Is that why you went psycho on Reita when you found out we were leaving for Tokyo?" Uruha snorted. Kai said psycho. Kai shot him a death glare and Uruha wrinkled his nose at Kai.
Yumi nodded. "Yup. But I've changed over the past two years; married someone else, had another child..."
Uruha wondered to himself. Has it really been nearly two years? Time goes by so fast. Yumi picked Rei up and Rei gave a soft coo of protest.
"Maa-mmy...down..." He said, touching Yumi's forehead. Yumi patted his head.
"Do you understand me, though?" Yumi directed this question at Ruki.
Ruki nodded. "I understand." He nodded again. "I have a step-son in this world now."
That's when everyone noticed the silver band on Ruki's finger.
Kai shrieked.
"OHMYGAWD! MIYAVI PROPOSED TO ME TOO!" He held up his hand and showed them the giant diamond ring on his finger.
Ruki's jaw dropped.
"Guys, you know they probably, like, all planned this."
"Those sneaky guys." Uruha shook his head in wonder.
"I'll just leave you guys be... Come on, Rei." Yumi held her son by the hand and walked out of the house. The three men escorted Yumi and her son out. Rei waved his little hand at them to say bye from Yumi's car. Uruha could see Ruki at the window until they were completely gone from the street.
When they closed the door, Kai squealed.
"I can't believe it! This is going to be so fun! Three weddings!"
"And two baby showers!!!" Ruki punched the air excitedly before clapping a hand over his mouth in realization of what he just said.
"It is," Uruha agreed, giving Ruki a curious look before going back to admiring his own white gold band with a princess-cut diamond set into it.
"Reita had, like, our names engraved on the inside." Ruki took off the ring to show it to them.
"Speaking of Reita, how are you going to tell him?" Kai asked.
"I think I'm going to invite Yumi and her son over for dinner."
"Lovely." Uruha exchanged a glance with Kai. What was Ruki going to do?
"Kai, are you, like, staying for dinner?"
"Of course! After what just happened, I feel I should. Plus, I wanna see the look on Reita's face when he finds out!"
"Ruki, are you mad though?" Uruha asked.
"I, like, don't really know how I feel. Actually, I have, like, another surprise for him."
"Oooohhh! What is it?" Kai asked.
"Sorry my dears. I gotta, like, tell Reita before anyone else. It, kinda like, concerns him."
"Oh my." Uruha looked at Kai again, who rubbed his chin thoughtfully, shining the diamond into their eyes.
"OWIE!" Uruha said, clapping a hand over his eye.
"Kai's, like, sucha show-off. Blinding us with that, like, huge rock on his little finger."
"Oooh!! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Kai dropped his hand and bowed to Uruha and Ruki continuously. It was like watching a chicken eat. "Sorrysorrysorrysorry!! How can I make it up to you guys???"
"You, like, could make us dinner!" Ruki suggested.
"Oh yeah! And we could watch the twins! Invite Miyavi over!" Uruha put in.
"Oh. Okay then!" Kai clapped his hands a bit, then grabbed his SUV keys (that Miyavi bought for him) and left the house to pick up the twins from daycare.

Dinner was dinner, and Yumi surprisingly fit in well.
Uruha remembered that she was actually an okay girlfriend, except for the fact that she complained a little too much and that she called Reita names he didn't like. The twins were resting in Aoi and Uruha's bedroom, and everyone sat around the little square kitchen table. Miyavi was resting his arm on the back of Kai's chair, Yumi sat in between Kai and Uruha. Ruki sat next to Miyavi and Reita, who was beside Aoi. Aoi, as usual sat with Uruha.
Despite the fact that Yumi was the only female present, she didn't seem to be uncomfortable at all. She laughed, chattered and reminisced along with all of them.
Uruha took a bite out of the beef Kai roasted. It was good. "Want some?" He offered his fork to Aoi, who had his forehead in his hand.
"Hmm? Oh sure, yeah." Aoi leaned in to take a bite, but Uruha could tell he was in another world.
Everyone but Reita sniggered when they brought up the topic of "ReiReiBunnyBuns". Kai made a lovely dinner, but Aoi wasn't eating much. Uruha saw that he wasn't really listening when Miyavi started a discussion about a song he wanted to write. Ruki and Yumi got on very well, and Reita was quite shocked when Yumi brought out her son.
"Say hi to your daddy," Yumi said, sitting down onto a kitchen table chair and standing Rei onto the floor. She stroked Rei's downy hair.
Rei toddled towards Aoi. "Hi daddy," He said. Everyone laughed.
Aoi smiled. Uruha could see how tired he looked. "Over there, little guy," Aoi said, turning Rei around into the direction of Reita.
"Hi daddy," Rei said again, waving to Reita. Uruha watched Ruki, who watched Reita, who picked Rei up.
They were so shockingly alike. Reita's face broke out in a large grin. He turned to Ruki with Rei in his arms. Ruki ran a finger along Reita's jawline. Reita took Ruki's hand and kissed it. It was as if it were only them two in the kitchen.
"Are you honestly okay with all this?" Reita whispered.
Ruki took a deep breath. "Yup." He replied softly.
After dinner, Uruha read his book in bed. Yumi left with Rei. She told them what hotel they were staying at with her husband and daughter. Uruha sighed contentedly. Things worked out so well for Yumi. He was glad for her. The white blankets covered his baby bump, and Uruha knew that the baby was sleeping. He heard Aoi gargle and spit into the sink before walking back into the bedroom.
"Hey," Aoi said, climbing into bed with Uruha.
"Hello there," Uruha replied, putting down the paperback to look at Aoi. Mhmm. The dark circles were back.
"What?" Aoi asked.
"I should be asking you that," Uruha murmured, trying to smooth out a wrinkle under Aoi's eyes with his thumb. Aoi was silent and still for quite a bit. He seemed to be debating with himself. He then shook his head and took a deep breath.
"Uruha. We have to go to Yokohama. I lied." Aoi's voice shook. "I wasn't there for a case. My mother's dying."
