Darkendale Ball

I had an absolute blast this weekend monstering the Darkendale Ball. Other than my usual wibble immediately upon arriving onsite I had a remarkably stress-free weekend, and being allowed to nap while the players enjoyed the ball even meant that I had the energy to stay up late and join the singing on the last night.

I thoroughly enjoyed my main character, Sarah. I loved some of the comments made in her direction, both IC and OOC.

These included:

- Before I'd even arrived at the event: "Oh... are *you* playing Sarah..." (Followed by "will you be okay with my character hating your guts?")

- "So which servant are you playing?" "Sarah" "Oh, the interesting one."

- "See... this is how they can be if you pay them!"

- "Yes Sarah, we all know what you're for." (from another of the servants... repeatedly...)

- "Oh, you're warming yourself at the fire... So you've talked George into doing your chores again, I see."
"That is *not* me, Moncrief. That's Lilly that does that!!"

- *glare*
  *glare back*
  *pointedly ignore each other*

- "Sarah seemed like she had a stick up her arse"
"She didn't have a stick up her arse... she had a whore in her hall." (said with gritted teeth, while giving a Sarah-style death-glare)

- "So what made you choose this life Sarah?"
"I don't understand sir. Why would I have to choose it? It's what am."

- "I was okay with most of the servants, but Sarah scared me. She was too subservient. There was something... oily... about it."

Other high points of my weekend included:
-Singing long after time-out on Saturday
-Being dead in a cave
-Bein undead in a cave
-Hearing some great songs, both old and new, particularly "The Order of Celestial"
-Three monsters giving the whole player party a fairly decent fight
-Getting to fight in the sword and cloak with a character that's actually competitive
-More-servant-than-thou standoffs at doorways
-Glaring at Darkendales when they tried to do chores themselves
-Glaring at guests when they weren't acting appropriately
-Glaring idly while thoughts were elsewhere
-Hurriedly stopping glaring when somebody I actually liked/respected stepped into the path of my death-glare
-Causing poison panic at one of the tables by having Rhapsody's drink taken away and replaced with another one
-Sitting smugly at the servants' table after the feast with gigantic piles of food in front of us and tucking in joyfully
-So much else!
