The Baileys come to Atlanta

Just after returning home from the yard sale trip, the Bailey’s came to visit. The whole darn Family. I had set up my office as a kids room and Jen and Shawn had the guestroom. The whole family had never come to visit before so I wanted to make sure we got in as much as possible while they were here. We did so many things. It was a must that we go to the aquarium. I thought the kids would get a big kick out of that and I think they did. Quinn had been looking forward to it for a while. We spent the day looking at all the tanks and I think we might have spent just as long in the gift shop. After the aquarium we went to the CNN center for lunch, and then to Piedmont Park to wear the kids out. It was one of those humid southern afternoons so I was pretty wiped out myself.

Jen wanted to go to the beach during her visit. I made arrangements for some hotel rooms in Charleston and she and Shawn and the kids set out early to the beach. Bob and I followed later as he had to work. We got there that evening and the Baileys had already been down to the wall street and the kids were in bed so we had a glass of wine and the boys had some beer and we chatted for a while and turned in.

The next day we got up and found some breakfast and headed to the beach. We went over to the Isle of Palms and the beach was just unbelievably crowded. The kids got to play in the sand and in the water and have a good time. I think it was a little harrowing on the adults but we managed. I mean after all, it was 4 against three. We headed back to the hotel after soaking up the sun and got ourselves cleaned up. We went down to the market and walked around a little until Quinn picked a place for us to have dinner. The weather started to look pretty ominous on the way back to the hotel but we made it just before it started to downpour.

The next day we headed back to the Atlanta but this time the (adult) boys rode together and us girls took the kids. It was a super smooth ride with the entertainment system in the car that Joey and Kelly had let us borrow for the week.

We also managed to sneak in some rock climbing while they were here. I stayed home with the kids because I was wiped out, and the rest of the crew went to the gym. We have the largest climbing gym in the nation that we climb at and Shawn has an interest in climbing so I’m glad they were able to make it out.
I’m really glad they came out and I hope they had a great time. Next time maybe we can all meet in Michigan at a lake house. That’s my hope anyway.
