It's been a long time since I last posted and many things in my life have changed. The two largest changes have been moving from my operations role in my company to a more sales-oriented one and buying a puppy. I knew that changing roles would be a rather drastic and uncomfortable change for me, I had no idea how much of a change having a puppy would be. My puppy's name is Doyle and he's 3/4 American Bulldog and 1/4 English Bulldog, a hybrid known as a Stonehenge Olde Bulldog. He's very adorable, a bit hard-headed about things, hence the "Bull" in Bulldog, and has been a lot of fun. It's been quite a change to have to think about him in planning out my days and weeks, there are feeding times he needs to stick to, has to be walked often, shots need to be acquired, vet visits, all kinds of fun stuff. It's been a really good experience and I am very lucky to have gotten such a cute dog. I will definately post pictures soon.
On the job side of the house, working in sales has been pretty difficult. I'm micromanaged to an amazing extent, two bosses calling me daily wanting to know my numbers. The compensation plan has been set up to provide the company maximum opportunity not to pay me. It's really rather rediculous, I'm tired of hearing about how no one is selling anything, etc., and yet I am at 130% of quota. Needless to say I am contemplating another job.I've asked the CEO of the company to consider me for any new operations opportunities that might pop up in the hopes of being able to use my management degree, but we'll have to see how that goes.
The last week and a half has been interesting to say the least. It has involved travel to New Jersey and Minnesota, some training and a number of client meetings. I've been having to cope with a lot more rejection than I am used to as a part of the new job, so maybe it'll toughen my skin a bit. I have had a couple of conversations with some good friends lately, and apparently have said too much or the wrong thing. It wouldn't be so bothersome if it didn't seem to happen often. I guess being blunt and truthful makes others uncomfortable. I'd rather not pull any punches however.
