Has it really been four years?

Wow. Time sure flies when you try and forget trajedy. It's rather scary how quickly many people have forgotten what occurred on that monring four years ago. I nearly forgot myself, and I was rather intimately linked to it

I still remember when 9-11 happened. Our teachers were on strike so we weren't in school, and I was playing Mad Libs with our family friend, who was watching me. She was flipping through the channels while naming words and then she just stopped as the the live footage of the second plane hitting the towers happened. We just sat and stared and I closed the Mad Libs. And all she said was "terrorists", which I had never heard of before. So I asked her what terrorists were, and she explained, and all I could ask was "why would anyone want to do that?" She didn't really answer me.

The rest of the day I sat on the floor, holding my pillow, watching the footage replay over and over again on the television screen, remembering that my brother worked in New York City and that his building was right near the twin towers; two months before we had gone to vist him and walked right by the towers. I remembered him pointed just around the corner as we walked by the towers, saying "That's my office."

I kept scaring myself as any 11 year old cool...wondering if my brother was still alive, wondering why this had happened, wondering what would happen next. And their was just news of more planes elsewhere crashing...

My brother was all right, though. News had come that that day, his boss wanted to start work later, so before he actually went to work, the towers were hit and he hadn't left his appartment in Brooklyn as well as his boss had never left his home.

It's scary, though, being so young and not understanding it, only looking at it through the innocent eyes of a child.

Aye. I remember when I went up on the towers a year or two before. I'm glad I got to get to the top of them.

[jeggish]

I just walked past them. I remember how shiny the windows were and how small I felt. We ate at a pizza place just near them for lunch.

[aoden]

Poor Bush has had it rough these past few years.

[jeggish]

Yeah.
