crisis averted (?)

Looks like my Bronx tales will continue, but from now on their subjects will be K-2 kids. I feel terrible about leaving the kids in my current school, but it's not like I have a much of a choice.

At the same time, though, I AM very happy. This new school is—how do I put this—one that's actually not, um, failing. Although the principal has a rather distant style, but I've been told as long as I don't make trouble I'll be fine. My colleagues so far have been very helpful and supportive, especially the teacher I'll be working most closely with, so I am cautiously optimistic about this new environment.

Tomorrow I'll be having a Thanksgiving dinner at M's place. (M is an extremely nice Japanese girl I've met in the Fellows program, and we hit it off from the start.) And on Thursday, Lior and I will go to his parents' place for another Thanksgiving dinner (JFK, here I come again). I'll come back on Sunday.

And after that, my birthday is coming up! :D My parents insist that they take me to dinner next Monday. They are going to Vancouver and will be there for a (long) while, so they want to deliver a few things to me before they leave.
