(written on tuesday.)
So a fire broke out today in the abandoned building across the street from where I my department is. Supposedly it started in the basement of the building around 3 pm today and just started buring out of control. At first all I could see was smoke rising from the top of the building and a few fire fighters but as the hours went by flames engulphed the whole building and the fire department blocked off all of Wabash due to the possibility the building could collaps. The Fire is actually only one and a half blocks away from me in between 9th and Harrison street and is still buring actually, although they seem to have it under control. I'm just wondering who started the fire- probably some crackhead I assume.
. . . and when I said right across the street I literally meant RIGHT across the street.
btw see the tall red building behind the firey inferno- ya thats where I live. Yikes!
Class is canceled for my department tommorow because they don't when or if the building might collapse and so they have the whole block evacuated till its safe.
