Is it more exciting that Miley Cyrus is set to become Mrs. Liam Hemsworth, or that Liam will become Mr. Miley Cyrus? These hot stars got engaged in 2012 and, if they make it down the aisle, could be the next Brangelina. After all, they already have something like five dogs!
Mr. Hemsworth carried his weight in what we like to call the Year of the Hemsworth with his action-packed blockbuster, The Hunger Games. Luckily, there's going to be a lot more where that came from, with Catching Fire and four other movies in the works. Plus, those baby blues and shirtless scenes undoubtedly helped his Attractiveness score.
Miley’s year involved a lot of Pilates and puppies, but now she's back in the studio working on her fourth album. The upcoming effort could be her biggest and best yet, with the help of talented producers Pharrell and Hit-Boy, who’s worked on tracks for Eminem and Kanye West. The return to music will be a welcomed relief from acting, since her post-Hannah Montana projects haven’t gone over so well. LOL never even made it into theaters, and So Undercover went straight to DVD. No matter what goes down career-wise, expect Miley to remain in the headlines, thanks to her super-short haircut and impressive collection of crop tops.
When Christina Aguilera started dating Burlesque production assistant Matthew Rutler in 2010, people figured it was just a rebound romance. Two years later, it's clear that Rutler has become a part of Aguilera's family. He’s accompanied the singer everywhere from star-studded parties to Legoland, and is very close to her son, Max. While it's unclear what Rutler's professional goals are, Aguilera was busy enough for the both of them in 2012, with a judging gig on The Voice and a new album, Lotus. Sure, Christina’s record sales aren’t quite as strong as they used to be, but she seems happier and more confident than ever.
Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie welcomed an adorable baby boy, Luca, in March, which was certainly the highlight of the pair’s year. Since then, Duff has had her hands full with losing that pesky pregnancy weight (which she did!), recording a new album, and developing a new TV show, which she’ll also star in. What made this all possible? Probably the fact that her hockey-player husband retired last year due to an ongoing injury and was happy to spend all his extra time with little Luca. That, and Duff is only 25, so she probably has plenty of energy for a toddler and a full-fledged career, right?
After doing the super-high-profile couple thing with Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens has kept things relatively low-key with the guys she’s dated since. She and Austin Butler have been seeing each other for more than a year, but the two aren’t making any big public thing out of their relationship (except maybe when they hit Coachella together). Instead, they’ve been focused on their individual careers, with Vanessa featured in this year’s hotly anticipated Spring Breakers and Austin enjoying his role as young Carrie Bradshaw’s exceptionally good-looking love interest in The Carrie Diaries.
