R.I.P.

my favorite cutting board died tonight in a horrible accident. luckily the horrible accident didn't involve slicing my fingers up which i avoided very narrowly. thanks be to my amazing insticts which last second upon coming into contact with a knife blade realized that trying to catch the 2 knifes & cutting board was a bad idea.

pros of the day include:
not cutting myself
a chocolate easter bunny to bite the head off of
yummy dinner
boozed up hot cocoa
being effectively done with my taxes (just have to add stamps & lick the envelopes to seal the deal)

cons:
being suckered into going to work
2.5hrs total shoveling snow (michael & i both served 2.5hrs) & the aches & exhaustion to prove it
clumsiness resulting in my 2nd shattered thumbnail (so far i've managed to avoid ripping the things off but i don't count on my luck holding out much longer)
the death of my favorite cutting board (yes, i know we have 5 more but that was the biggest!)

in other news, i've had an interesting thought or 2 lately!

a) in terms of the new ohio smoking ban, which i love (i get a little bit of a thrill every time i realize that the feve upstairs is no longer respiratory arrest & stench inducing after 5sec of contact)... does that mean that bands can't smoke at concerts anymore? i mean, that's what many musicians do. do you think this would limit those who would schedule concert dates in ohio? there was another thought here but it has since flown the coop.

b) election related but that deserves to be a whole post when more cognizant (steve, be proud of me, i started my candidate info searches last night). yes, i am talking about '08. it's fucking important & don't you forget that!

c) in terms of this wretched holiday we are currently feeling the influence of (note: even though i have an amazingly affectionate & adorable boyfriend my feelings of absolute horror about this holiday still remain perfectly intact), why is all the work of this holiday sloughed off on the men?! i mean, i saw multiple guys trekking through the snow to bring back gifts, no females though. both michael & max thought they should prepare meals for the females in their lives, etc. why is it that there is such guilt directed towards men for this holiday? is the assumption that women don't have to go out of their way for the holiday since the regularly do? i don't understand. also, i don't understand why there is guilt. are women really bitchily sitting at home going, "you didn't buy me shit, what's your problem?" i... i'm perplexed. i think more booze is in order for me.

ps happy societally-fucked up, snow-filled valentine's day.
