i, thankfully, had a nice extended weekend. wednesday night saw me down in columbus in order to offer over cuddles to my magnificent boyfriend. since i fully intended to be there for the weekend, thursday & friday conveniently turned into vacation days! it was vacation well spent. though there was a storm of emotions to contend with (this new birth control is wreaking havoc upon my emotional state), it was well-weathered thanks to his support, hugs, & indulgence of my new-found Halo obsession.
highlights of the extended weekend include:
-hours upon hours of cuddle-time (of course)!
-a 3.5hr nap on friday whilst max was off at class
-finishing Lord of the Flies (bk 4)--a quite disturbing book. it made me love humanity certainly no more than i did previously. also, a point which i found disturbingly perplexing/telling was the tally given by ralph of lost boys. the number stated is 1 below what the count should be. it makes me wonder why.
-Halo to take my mind off of the horror of Lord of the Flies. i finished the 1st mission after max got home from class friday afternoon. we were finished with about 3/4 of the game by sunday night. (i'll let you surmise what you will of our relationship from this. hint: FABULOUS!)
-SUSHI & Casino Royale! that was damn good sushi. we tried some new things. plum sauce rolls which were a bit too sweet for me & some Dynamite rolls (uncertain of contents) that were fabulous. as per usual, there was smoked salmon (*love*), avacado & cucumber rolls, & philly rolls (cream cheese & sushi? who thought that was a good idea. silly boy, i still don't understand how you find that appealing.)!
thoughts on Casino Royale: spectacular. i was super-leery going in. i'm not a huge Bond-flick fan & what's his face, from the preview, looked more like an asshole than a suave hit-man. turns out he makes for a thoroughly convincing Bond. also, much pleased with the plot. the love story was good with, to me, an unexpected ending.
-absolute terror supplied by the shopping mall the theater was in. this was hell. a night-mare. complete with idiots in costume, such as Sonic the Hedgehog; nut-crackers; other odd things; etc., glowing lights, miles of sprawl. *shudder* once the crush of people thinned some it wasn't as fear-inspiring however i think it best not to dwell too much upon the testament this megapolis of consumerism makes towards our society. *brain twitch*
-a dinner party! max always does a fine job of cooking. i'm sure the large quantities of booze helped make the evening enjoyable, but when does it not?!
-more fear, this time supplied by the hoards of OSU football fans. strangely, these creatures, in their winning euphoria were actually quite civil. perhaps the large police presence, to include hard to miss chopper patrolling, encouraged such, but still. i indulged a fan or 2 with a high five & maybe even an "IO" despite being amongst 5 others who cared little about the game & stood out due to their lack of fan-gear (or maybe it was perhaps, because of... anyway). quite the spectacle.
observation: i appear to be losing ability to formulate readable sentences. or perhaps it's a lack of concern. sorry dear lj, but you're losing your hold over me. it really is just hard to communicate with a thing that doesn't give a damn what the hell you say to it.
most importantly, if you fail to give a damn about anything else i've said, simply know that i am doing well thanks to one key figure in my life. i'll give you 3 guesses, but don't need them, k?
