1/2 done w/ the game of life & still fighting

half-way through another week. i'm rushing right along to that 40 year end mark. haha (gotta love inside jokes, especially the kind that only you & your brain are in on). you might think that the accelerated pace at which my life seems to be progressing would be a bad thing, however, not so. at least if the weeks pass so & weekends take a moment to slow down some.

my brain isn't functioning on all the levels i'd like it too but sometimes that's for the best. while i don't much like shutting down certain thought processes, sometimes it's important for being able to get up in the morning & dragging my ass to work. so far so good though the brain has been a bit variable as of late. i'm keeping a close eye on it. i can be quite tyrannical when it comes to monitoring my brain & mouth. it's certainly no easy task telling your brain what it will & will not think but i'd like to think that i run a tight ship here. when it comes to the conscious level, i do alright but that fucking treacherous subconscious is always seeking to undermine me. i don't get it.

i've decided the key is to work on incorporating functional switching mechanisms:
emotional off = no hysterics, no hysterics! dammit, i said NO hysterics!
creative on = please, write the poetry--you know you want to finish this piece which is months old & no, i don't mean just call it done.
creative back off = oh lord, work is so boring, just let me get through this.
recall on = you know you want to remember those book titles. you want a book don't you? *pats brain* good brain.
emotional back on = *twitter, twitter* *glowy*
mathematics on = why can't smart people just write equations like normal people? ugh, you want me to do what w/ the units?!
mathematics off = we've had enough of that, back to words.

it's hard work training a brain but maybe i'll fare alright. after all, i do have the appropriate positive reinforcement strategies down.

alright, that's probably more than enough internal monologue for the night (i bet if you thought even for a second that i wasn't a bit crazy that you're reconsidering now). off to the gardening & never-ending list of things to do. hooray for projects!

ps thanks all for the book suggestions. i'm really excited about being able to start on the list! i'll be sure to inform you as to my progress. also, if you think of anything else, add on!
